Gallery templates
 

For the last week I've trying to build upon an idea from a post on GFY. Sponsor specific gallery templates.
I added a lot of twists to the original idea, and the result is TGP Templates . It features 18 templates from 8 designers at the time. It's still small but it's ready for reviews, and hopefully a few sales. I dont want to go much further before I give it a test drive.
So please check it out, read the rules, and tell me what you think about it. I think this is a really good ideia, but it's still very fresh and that is a problem. Some people dont fully understand it, and some people dont even want to know why this can work fine.
So, tell me the good, the bad, and the ugly about my site. I will try to answer everything and maybe improve the FAQ with some of your questions. The site is only one week old, and it can still change a lot.

I'd give it a shot if you prepaid them.

...or gave me the possibility to sell my own design WHILE it's on sale with you guys... and perhaps an access to MY galleries on your server, so when I have them on sale on my site.. when I sell the template I could delete the gallery from your database. (I like to sell galleries only once).

I may do that in the future, if everything goes well. I am still experimenting, and I have enough designers working on it without prepayment.

Desginers get a full page on the site with their galleries, and they can and should link to that page from their own sites. But I can think about your idea as well...
Why wouldnt you like to sell a design more than once? Dont you think a gallery template can be used by a few different people?

just visited the site, liked it a lot, good idea, but ...... well I am looking for "general" templates I can use with any sponsor I want, the sponsors you offer are not the ones I wanna use, except for club seventeen but ....... sorry, those I found very awfull to look at, IMHO.
So I am still looking for a design !

I don't think ppl like to buy templates more than once. Why would they? They can have an unique gallery for pretty much the same price.

"Do you need templates for another sponsor? Need exclusive work from one of the designers? Contact us."

So, you can ask for the sponsors you use, and you can even ask for the designer you want (if he's available).
I know I dont have that many templates right now, so I want clients to ask for what they need.

Gallery templates are fun.

I sell mine exclusive and unique, only sold once.

I think the pricing is backwards.

Why would I pay $40 for you to sell more at a lower price?
You penalize the early adopter with a higher price and
saturating the look he paid the higher price for.

Don't sell them more than once... bump them to $30-45 per template, and deal with it.

I wouldn't buy a non-exclusive gallery

I believe a good idea for that site would be selling only exclusive templates.

If I would pay for a gallery template, I would like to have it exclusive.

some_idiot (it's you nick :P) , the early buyer gets a fresher template than the next one. He also has 5 days of exclusive use. It will be a long a time until the look his saturated, if it ever sells that much. And if it does saturate, the only way to sell it is cheap, and that eraly buyer no longer cares.
The ideia is not to sell them 1000 times, it's just to sell them more than once because I see nothing wrong with a few people sharing a template.

I am thinking about adding a way to be the only buyer. Maybe if you offer the current price + $10 , the gallery is removed from the site... would you like that?

I was thinking about this alternative:

All the galleries are sold at a cheaper fixed price (ex: $10) and the number of buyers is listed. That way you can grab really nice templates cheap, and you can see how many people have it and make your own decision on how overused it may be. Additionally I will set a higher price to make it exclusive.

What do you think? It will make more sales that way?

Damn it...my brother and I were working on the same kind of service. Oh well....see ya soon!

I guess there is room for more... it will give buyers more templates to choose from. How are you going to price yours?

This idea is nothing new. WeBuildTemplates.com does the same thing, only they offer more templates than just TGP galleries.

Thanks 3Xguru :thumbsup , I will put them online when I get home. I have a lot of templates waiting to go online now, that part is going well, I just need to find the best way to sell them non-exclusive. I will e-mail all the designers soon to discuss this.

Just kidding. We plan on offering several differnt price ranges depending on gallery type. We are meeting this weekend to work out the details.

Matt 26z the idea is new, WeBuildTemplates.com was launched around the same day as TGPTemplates.com , and it's not the same... they make general templates, not sponsor specific. We even agreed to cross sell templates, but it's not ready yet.

MuleScrote I was not asking how much. I mean, will you make them cheap, and sell them forever at that price? Expensive and sell them only 5 times? Change the price as you sell them?... etc

Exclusive, semi-exclusive limited to only a few sales, and general templates. Pricing will be tiered accordingly. Of course our exclusive galleries will be of higher quality and design to set them apart from the rest. We also have a couple other marketing and package ideas we are working on....but I don't want to give it all away. :winkwink:

I am adding a new feature to TGP Templates .
I called it "Limited Edition" and those templates have different rules. The price is lower and they're only sold five times. That should be good news for webmasters looking for quality galleries. They are cheap and they wont get overused, so tell me what you think of it. It cant get much better than that :winkwink:

Suuuuure, using that logic why shouldn't Mike W be able to sell me some of those paysite tours he did for other people? Five different sponsors can have the same tour for thier teen site without it being oversaturated :1orglaugh

And I have a few other ideas for you. Why not just let the designer choose the price of his gallery on your site and how many times it is sold? Once, five times...

Lenny2 a paysite tour should be unique. Gallery templates dont have to be. Sponsors already have hosted galleries, (same template and same content for hundreds of afiliates!), so there is nothing wrong in five people using the same template with different content to promote a paysite.

More designers are switching to "Limited Edition" , so you can grab some pretty cheap templates right now! And please remember, I offer exclusive work if you request it!
