How Much is Bale Worth?

Looks like Real Madrid have almost got him, but is he really worth all that money? He's an outstanding player, how much would you say he's worth?

Would be interesting to see him play for RM.

I'll save that question for my next thread :winkwink:

I'm not sure how much anyone is worth in football these days. When people like Andy Carroll go for £35 million, yet David Villa goes for around £4 million, then it's impossible to give anyone a proper market value.

I do think Bale is world class, and so yeah would expect a huge fee for him, but highest fee ever ?? Strange one for me, but if he goes and proves to have a great few years at Madrid, who will argue with it ?

Good points Scott! :thumbsup

Yeah, I agree, we'll only know if the fee was right in a few years from now. Like you say it is hard to imagine that he should be the most expensive player of all time. If a 24yo Zidane was being sold in today's market then sure, but at this moment in time I find it hard to see that Bale will reach such a level. :2 cents:

Carroll only went for 35 cause they got 50 for Torres and needed a striker.
Villa is 31 and had a bad leg break followed by a not too great season, but yep still cheap. Shame he didnt go to Arsenal.

Bale is 24 so a great resale value on him in 4 years.

Wales is not even going to qualify for BRAZIL 2014, so he's worth nothing.

seeandsee 08-22-2013 02:10 PM

Why they pay him so much, come on, fucker is worth 30-50million max!

wetvibes 08-22-2013 02:16 PM

40-50 millions top!

Ross 08-22-2013 03:38 PM

He is one of the best in the world right now but this price tag will either spur him on to be top 3 or make him a total flop (money wise). I'm not entirely sure how it is going to work with him and Ronaldo in the same team, in my opinion, Ronaldo is the better player and so you build your team around him. It'll be interesting, Real have spent big money already, this transfer will take them to over $200 million spent on new players, Barcelona haven't spent close to that so Real have to win the league title this season.

:2 cents:

what's even funnier are the comments saying he is worth 'x' based purely on his footballing ability :helpme

#1 I'm unaware of any football club chairmen/managers/scouts who frequent GFY

#2 How can anyone who even remotely follows football be unaware it's all about the $$$?

Here's how it goes: Can we make a profit on player xyz if we pay abc. Yes = buy, no = don't buy. Saying 'but this player went for that and he's better' is about as relevant as saying 'I love marmite and chicken wallpaper'.

There is more to his transfer than most reports let on! Athletico got him on the cheap because they gave BCN first refusal on one of their brightest young stars... can't remember his name but this is why he went for peanuts!

SirBunnz 08-23-2013 02:52 AM

Bale has never impressed me. He's a very one dimensional player with no "total game". He can run, he has a great foot but thats it. Spurs, if they get anywhere near the quoted prices for Bale, have done fantastic business this season, basically swapping Bale's potential for proven, experienced talent across the park.

As for how Bale will do @ RM? I doubt he'll get many games. Who do they drop for him? Seriously?

I have the same opinion, he's good but nothing really special or worth THAT amount of money :2 cents:
