First, take into account how many people have Yahoo saved as their homepage over Google... a LOT! Yahoo is full of crazy shit, Google is a search bar.

People go to Yahoo.com then go to mail, stocks, whatever... not all there to search. People go to Google.com to search for shit, or they go to Gmail.com for mail.

Comparing apples to apples, yes, Yahoo.com would get more daily visitors than Google.com

I can tell you from my end of looking at actual search query impressions for ad campaigns, there is less on Yahoo/Bing than on Google.. far less. This isn't for one campaign, but numerous accounts in verticals all across the board from ecomm sites, lead gen, attorneys, car dealerships, etc.

If you compare Google and their search network of sites, like AOL, Ask, etc., then Google trumps Yahoo any day of the week, but site v. site, Yahoo gets more traffic.

With that said, can they say more people search on Yahoo vs. Google? I would say not a chance :2 cents:

In the US. Worldwide, Google is kicking their ass still. Facebook probably is too.

Klen 08-22-2013 11:24 AM

First, there is no yahoo traffic, there is yahoo/bing traffic as they display same results. And second, they already had more us traffic then google before but that means shit since google beating them on every other country.

Anyone have stats supporting this?

CDSmith 08-22-2013 11:42 AM

Google it.

I don't know anyone who says "yahoo it". Or even "go to yahoo". It's always google.

Yahoo was king in 1998. Google is now.

Traffic equals eyeballs. Eyeballs equal ad dollars. It's not that complicated.

It doesn't matter if it's tweeter, yahoo homepage, or something else. They are talking about the number of bites at the apple Yahoo gets compared to the other for potential ad dollars or penetration. I do not see them declaring Yahoo being used more for search.

Sometimes these threads reinforce businessmen from the hobbyists in pure understanding of how the web works and what matters to other companies. I am amazed that some of the people on GFY managed to make any money at all over the years based on some of the comments made in these sort of threads. It's about potential advertising space and penetration of those ad dollars. "Being cool and free" doesn't keep the lights on at Google either. In the end it comes down to how many people are seeing a potential advertisers ads.

Do I believe it's true? Who knows. Yahoo, much like AOL, own a lot of properties.

I Yahoo stuff all the time. To get there, just type 'Yahoo.com' in your Google search and click the link at the top of the page. It's good :)

Ask the people who've lost their domains to Google via trademark disputes if that's the case.

The definition of Google meaning to search is more than Google could have ever possibly hoped for.

Haha, I do the same thing whenever I want to check my Yahoo SERPS.

Nasty 08-22-2013 05:03 PM

I find it hard to believe but one thing is for sure, yahoo has millions of extremely loyal users. I'm not one of them but I know lots of people who use yahoo email and have had yahoo as their home page for over 10 years.

Nicky 08-22-2013 05:41 PM

Where are the 197 and 192 million number from? I mean It literally says the whole of Google has about half the traffic of pornhub lol

I always find myself occasionally saying to someone, "You still fucking use Yahoo? Jesus Christ."

My Google traffic has been very odd the past week or so.. High one day with lots of clicks and the next day only a few clicks on the same search terms.

Like I said in my previous reply to you, this is not a comparison of google.com vs yahoo.com.

It is a comparison of the properties owned by each.

A better comparison and far more worthwhile would be net worth + income vs each other - wonder who would kick the shit out of the oterh on that front?

**yawn**

I make more in a month than you'll make all year kid. Stick to know what you know.... the fry-o-lator. If you spent a fraction of your 'hating on Barefootsies' fodder time and energy on building or growing your business versus trolling strangers more successful than you on web forums.... you might be a little more successful and less bitter about your place in the food chain. You've been a nobody for years in the adult industry, and to this day you're still little more than a forum troll nobody with a Barefootsies obsession.

Stop blaming other people for your years of failure. It's no one's fault but you're own.

Prolly because there has been too much emphasis here placed on getting signatures eyeballed rather than on actually reading and retaining knowledge.

potter 08-23-2013 07:26 AM

I find it very hard to believe.

Alexa says the #1 site is google.com and the #3 site is youtube.com

Youtube alone is said to be 1 billion per month? Tumblr is 300 mil, and Flickr gets 80 mil. I would imagine it would be hard to even creep up to youtube's statistics with all of yahoo's property combined, let alone throwing google into the mix.

Unless the story is comparing all of yahoo properties to just google (and not including google's other property) THEN I could see the story being true - although completely misguided.

The Heron 08-23-2013 07:27 AM

They include all the other web properties yahoo owns, even excluding their newest purchases they had a lot of content sites before so it's not surprising overall they get a ton of traffic.

Magnetron 08-31-2013 12:41 PM

I've had an increase in traffic from Yahoo and Bing in recent months.

And Yandex, MyCenturyLink and DuckDuckGo.

Weirdness.

That chart have nothing to do with anything, exept show how many searched for "yahoo" or "google" on Google. And what kind of idiots does that anyway?
