Convicted Army private Bradley Manning says he's a woman
 

Bradley Manning, the Army private sentenced to 35 years in military prison for leaking classified documents, revealed Thursday he intends to live out the remainder of his life as a woman.

"I am Chelsea Manning. I am female," the Army private wrote in a statement read on NBC's TODAY show Thursday by his attorney. "Given the way that I feel, and have felt since childhood, I want to begin hormone therapy as soon as possible. I hope that you will support me in this transition."

This is one very confused kid who should not have been working with classified materials. The day and age not allowing gays to handle classified materials or working in intelligence is long gone, but we shouldn't be allowing "young kids" to handles such stuff. This should be officers only, and perhaps only above the age of thirty.

I'm not saying the kid wasn't worthy, but the military has a long history of putting a lot of faith and trust in young kids. Handing a seventeen year old a machine gun isn't the brightest idea in the world.

mission accomplished, just like snowden, the story isn't about the facts revealed, it's spun to be about a mixed-up young man.

i find it difficult to pinpoint similarities between manning and snowden but this one is very clear-

the real story is passed over in favor of this manning is a fruitloop angle.

I really feel for her. It's hard enough being trans, I can only imagine how much harder it will make it being in prison.

He stole a huge amount of classified information and released to the world with the intent of gaining notoriety - not to make the world a better place.

He released nothing of any real significance. Hence, the lack of arguments by even the most dedicated conspiracy nuts.I would sincerely hope that anyone, regardless of how little they trust government, still possesses enough reason to understand the problems with his actions and why it can't be tolerated or become accepted practice.

She won't be going into a women's jail. Prison assignments are based on your birth gender, even if you've already transitioned and had the surgery. She'll be in a men's prison no matter what.

one of the black prisoners asks speck,"you got woman panties on too?". that wasn't as humiliating as it sounded sincere.

Maybe it's different in various states, but on an episode of Lockup a corrections officer said that the ones who had been on hormones and had breasts but still had their penis were sent to men's facilities, while those who had gone through with gender reassignment surgery went to women's.
