Google help please

I logged into Google Webmaster Tools and found a bunch of messages that Googlebot has been having problems reaching my site. I haven't noticed my site down or loading slow and nobody else has reported anything.

Here's the graph for http://www.bodsforthemods.com

What should I investigate?

I had this too, wondering if it's anything to do with Google itself being "unavailable" recently ?

as silly as it sounds, make sure you dont have their IP blocked either through some CMS plug, robots.txt or htaccess. had this happen before always worth the double check as often times the easiest solution is typically the right answer.

Got 2 "Unable to connect to the database" sql errors, had to refresh a few times then it loaded quick for me in Europe.

ugh - i think it's just a coincidence but the site is having connectivity issues tonight.

from my hosting company:

Look like google bot was marked as spam bot and banned.
Your mrtg graph looks fine and i disable these ban lists.

How the fuck can they accidentally block googlbot!!

TumblrPRO 08-21-2013 11:06 PM

working fine here..

Mutt 08-21-2013 11:13 PM

now they're saying they didn't block googlebot - that in my htaccess were a bunch of foreign IP addresses I had put in there, all IP ranges from Russia and other suspected hacker countries. The site kept getting hacked and that did stop it from happening. So their theory is that Google ended up acquiring and using some of those IP addresses and that's how googlebot got blocked.
