Renault Megane

i found this cute as a button renault megane in blue, a hatchback, and a real hatchback, a mid-nineties used, for a couple grand.

could be just neat to buy and mess around with it for a while before selling it for the same or a little less money then get a mazda lantis or something else to replace it for a bit of driving fun.

does anyone else do this as like a hobby or interest? play the used car game? or do you just buy semi-new or new vehicles here on gfy from reputable dealers?

greg80 08-21-2013 01:49 AM

Mid nineties megane? Worth 200 eur max

HomerSimpson 08-21-2013 04:12 AM

seems to me cars were so much better in essence back in the nineties and early naughties just without the technology now and certainly back throughout the last five years or so.

bmw has gone a bit old school with the series 5. some media advertising company here advertised exclusively the new bmw sportwagon just outside the hood beside the local kentucky fried chicken. so i went in to the bmw dealership just down the road from there to find out how much money one of these cars cost nowadays, i was expecting to be told about two hundred thousand dollars. pretty sure he told me one hundred and twenty actually, and the majority of people in my hood do not, i repeat, do not have that amount of money spare. don't give me the blessing and god talk, i don't want to hear it thank you very much.

eh, not sure if he has e-mailed me, i might check later then take the next step toward purchase.

i might take some pictures of it clean with some hub cabs or alloys on it, it will have a few dents though.

I can honestly say I have never thought about owning a Renault.

Choopa_Pardo 08-21-2013 06:15 AM

Peugeot and Citroen are pretty good car brands.

Of course, you can't compare them to AUDI or BMW... Not to name Porsche... German Cars are above everything.

winter_ 08-22-2013 05:20 AM

okay so i bought it, i made a dash up north a little to get it then just got back about two hours ago.

i asked her, has the car got a turbo modification? said says no. the problem with that is this car has been souped up a bit in actual fact.

its an okay car, big large windows, its bigger brother the scenic looks like you could do a good old fashioned french jewellery heist in.

Rochard 08-22-2013 06:59 AM

The Renault Megane looks like a VW to me.

That Turbo 2 is epic. Haven't seen one in years. The pic gave me some nostalgia.

k0nr4d 08-22-2013 10:24 AM

The general rule of thumb here is if it's french or italian you don't buy it...

Ferus 08-22-2013 10:30 AM

Gonna make 50 posts about it like the Mazda 2?

Italian Brands: Ferrari, Maserati, Pagani-Zonda, Alfa Romeo. The best of the best in this World.

Nothing personal, but you don't seem to have any remote idea of cars at all.

Just saying. :2 cents:

Maserati and Alfa Romeo are some of the worse build cars ever. They only place they work well is on posters in kids room.

Pagani-Zonda and Ferrari are hand build supercars, cant be compared with anything running off a production line in 5 digit yearly quantities

lagcam 08-22-2013 08:44 PM

1. winter_ makes some strange posts.

2. Renault Megane Sport used to be my "just out of my price range" aspiration car, but I grew out of it long before I could afford it.

3. 200 euros now? Damn still can't quite make it. :1orglaugh

Alfa Romeo is the best of the best in the world? I take it you've never owned one? They are pretty - yes - but not only do they break at every opportunity, the assholes make them heavy as fuck (ie Brera, GT) so when they DO break it's hard to push it! :1orglaugh

As for the other's listed - none of those are really meant to be daily drivers. Again - pretty as fuck - but i'd wager the only reason they don't break all the time is that they get driven by their owners 1000km a year at most.

I owned an Alfa, best car I ever had. the only thing I didn't like was the service schedule.
I still rue the day it got broadsided by some girl in a fiat 500. :( Smacked right in the rear axle.

I can't STOP Laughing... A Polish dude saying that Italian Cars suck? So funny I can't really stop laughing, seriously.

A Polish dude saying that Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini, Pagani, Alfa Romeo, etc, all suck??? :1orglaugh

You have no idea what you are talking about. Better shut up, than keep doing the ridiculous here. You really have no idea. Just shut up or keep looking ridiculous with your statements. There is no way to try to justify what you said. Better shut up, than keep the discussion to try to prove a useless point. Just eat your own ego if you don't want to look ridiculous. You are not going to win this discussion, no matter how hard you try. :2 cents:

Only dudes from 2-4% of countries that have good car industry can express opinion about cars? I mean if you are from country that does not produce cars you can not criticize any car manufacturers? What kind of logic is that?

Having said that - I agree that his opinion is bulshit, there is old and dumb stereotype in Eastern Europe that "french and italian cars sucks". "Real men drive german cars" etc :1orglaugh
Mostly peasants and narrow minded gray people still has this view.

v4 media 08-23-2013 07:31 AM

Alfas do always break.. and the amazing thing is its a different thing everytime.
However, my mates old 1960īs alfa spider was the greatest car I have ever driven, so much fun.
