Everything is close there. Look on trip advisor for hotels near centraal station. There are many!

From one side of the ring canals to the opposite corner of the ring canals (which basically defines "centrum"), is about a 10-15 minute walk.

You can take the express train from Schiphol (AMS) airport to the central station then buy a multi day city tram pass. Try to find a hotel now near by (in the cenrtum (central city area)) and take the tram to the WMA. It's a lot less than taxi fares to everywhere and short distance walking.

We are in town for the week but our hotel is booked solid too now.
