Is copyright Dead? "The World's First Copyright-Free / Public Domain Porn Film" by Max Candy
Today I announced the development of "The World's First Copyright-Free Porn Film"
Code-named "ZiP" Fans will be able to participate in production, mash it up, recut it, and upload to their heart's content. It will be completely 'Public Domain' once it is released. This experiment in copyright-free film production may change the way films are made and promoted in the future. Is copyright Dead? First detail here http://www.xbiz.com/news/167668 Stay tuned.... |

Your film. Your creation. You can do that you want with it. :)

Views: 504,216 ??? just there??? My tech guy says, Inglorious Bitches http://inglorious-bitches.com been download.viewed over 10,000,000 times. Making popular content is not the problem, its getting paid for it. This Movie copyright belongs to Marc Dorcel. I was hired to Produce / Direct |
are you going to do a 'pay what you want' model, or is it entirely free?
|
revenue source? ads?
|
What's the angle?
|
If everybody does this then I want stock in cable companies since they are going to show all this stuff on their pay per view without royalties.(If the content is good enough)
|
The kind of fans prone to mash ups / re-edits / etc. were already doing that with your content regardless so I think unfortunately you might just as well have told them that you won't be charging them for air today. Good luck with it though. :thumbsup

http://www.google.com?q=site:youtube.com+"no+copyright+in fringement+intended"
372 million+ youtube videos with the text "no copyright infringement intended" in the description. A third of a billion videos on youtube have the uploaders acknowledging they are breaking copyright law. |

That's actually a good idea. I'm sure it will be very popular.
|
In other news today, Marc Dorcel's stock price drops 89%. Good luck, Max.

Considering most people don't formally register their copyrights, your title of the thread isn't true.
People steal so much already, no one is going to watch your video explicitly cause its "copyright-free." They will watch it for the same reason they would watch any movie, because it's enjoyable and they want to watch it, whether it was copyright-free or not. |
Blackmonsters, cable companies already pay virtually nothing for porn vod content, thx to companies like NOOF.
To the rest: his project idea is very interesting, I know more details and I am rather sure it will work the way he intends it to work. If we are all lucky this will produce a high production value porn movie that has not been around for a long time. Max can make a movie look very high end with budget smaller than the high end DP releases of the recent months. Imagine what he could do with a budget as big as Pirates! I am looking forward to what he produces. |
Interesting idea, at first I thought you wanted to call it RIP and not ZIP haha

The issue with many "directors" in porn is that they are very dogmatic and unwilling to try anything new. They believe that because at one time they were successful doing things their way that is the only way to do things. I embrace change and hope that is the start of new ideas and new blood for your organization. |

We think so too. |

It seems like that might be the next step for porn. Get everyone including the talent (not sure if this is what is happening here but it's only a matter of time) to work for free so you can lower your costs to what lower revenue you are now making from other things.
Eventually industry talent will balk at doing hardcore for $100 a shoot as the prices continue dropping so maybe by making it a hippie-like "free love" "no copyright" thing you might be able to get some people to participate still. No affiliates. No paid producers. No copyrights. No paid talent. Just volunteers working on a movie with a watermark selling dick pills in the bottom right hand corner. :1orglaugh I'm not sure this is what they are going for (details are scarce right now) but knowing this industry I wouldn't be surprised at all. It'll be interesting to see. edit: somehow I get the feeling I just gave someone an idea. |

Part of my aim to get the general public to respect content creators by opening up the process. |

What are the profit incentives for Max, Marc and their supporters? |
Copyright as we knew it, is definitely dead.
Even content producers are slowly starting to understand how the new business model works, and they are actually doing more money than before when they adapt. Just check this forum. Many content shooters and producers begging for an account at XHamster to upload their stuff. |

The way I look at it one of two things will happen here.
1. Max releases this video, people download it, play around with, some may do their own mash up of it etc. Many will just take it, watch it and beat off to it. However, the fact that he gave it away for free (if I am understand correctly) and allowing people to do with it as they please builds him good will among some fans, they check out his site and pay for a membership to see what else he has. 2. He releases it, it ends up all over the place, people do what they want with it and it doesn't increase sales at all. If it is number one, it was an interesting marketing idea that helped get more sales. If it doesn't, he tried something different and it didn't work. No harm in that. |
