Can you recommend file storage online?
I know there are many cloud type of file storage solutions for moving files off your desktop and onto the "cloud"...but I'm looking for something different.
I'm looking to be able to move my files off my website and current isp and basically just put them into hibernation if and WHEN I should decide to start this website up again. So looking for current isp to be able to do a direct move to someone on the less expensive side of things storage wise. Thanks! |
So basically you're looking for an online backup solution. What size are you looking for?

How many gigs do you need? Are you looking for a paid solution. A good freebie is ubuntuonline
Regardless, it is always a good idea to burn your stuff to DVDs just in case. |
Strato hidrive is great, they support rsync over SSH.. and their cloud is not in the U(N)SA

The NSA has a very good system, you are already using it automatically, and you already pay for it in your taxes, so it's free!!

Amazon S3 is what you need

Idrive.Com will cost you some $50/year and the company has been around for almost 2 decades.

If its online storage you're looking for, you can try dropbox. There is a free type of subscription. But if you're looking for a higher capacity of storage you'll have to go for their monthly subscription package. :)

most people just archive the data with hd drives or whatever.
I like how this thread is going though... legitimize the use of file storage services. Well planned and congrats :) |

Then start calling them asking them to fetch some of the files or if they could just provide you with your own login |
Got it covered! Thanks all for your help!
