Seeing dead in your dreams...

I had a dream recently. I saw her walking to me. Slightly smiling. I was running to her. We hug each other. And I wake up.

It was so relieving.

She's been dead since February.

Had one about my dad not too long ago. I was going home and I was happy because I was going to see him. He's been dead for 20 years. It seemed so real that when I woke I was grief-stricken all over again. I had those waking moments of realization and grief the first few years after he passed, but this was the first time in a long while.

There's nothing wrong with that at all. I would like to think that means that he may be dead physically, but very much alive in spirit. :thumbsup

For about two years after my husband's death, I would frequently dream about him. Sometimes they were positive dreams where we were together and other times they were rather scary dreams.

I am pretty sure it was my subconscious dealing with things that it was blocking out during the day. He has popped back into my dreams several times since and it is usually when I am emotionally stressed over a relationship.

dream interpretation depends on what ELSE is going on in your life; analyzing from a single dream is like trying to say how an entire football season will go from watching the first quarter of a game.

from the 6 years I spent studying psychology and neuroscience, I took a few of these classes - very interesting stuff... from what I can remember :winkwink:

First... are you having this dream over and over, or just once? In these dreams, are there any vivid points that stand out besides the person, such a location or physical element like a car, house or personal item?

Being going into what I think it means, know that you have that dream because your unconscious mind is starting to stir up something. It may be something so miniscule you never would have thought of, but it sat and sat and you are relating that "issue" to something else in your current life... I'll explain more in a minute.

So the dream, two ideas....

1) I would say you are having that dream because something sparked your unconscious mind that day and put a bookmark to say "think of this later..." which happens when you sleep and dream. So the girl walking towards you, whom is dead, may be a sign of something that you once did to her; made her upset, did something behind her back, etc., that you felt GUILTY at the TIME about. Key points there... guilty and past.

Now, you may have recently done something to where you got over this guilt and felt she would have forgiven you; hence walking towards you and accepting you back in her life.

This could have been from you stealing $10 from her only to realize that you gave it back to her when you were drunk one night and you completely forgot... to you calling her a name, then helping out someone who is verbally abused to get over their problems.

Again, I would say it has to do with something that you DID in the past to her or someone she cared about.

2) A little more broad, but this could have been something just as simple as you got a "sense" of something that reminded you of her and when you would have a good time, and you miss her.

This could be as simple as smelling a familiar perfume, seeing some type of clothing (not erotic because the dream seemed to be in a public place) or even been to a place where you both once traveled.

Her walking to you and hugging you was just a sign of your brain saying "remember these good times?"

Or #3... you are finally going to admit to the world that you are a lot lizard and she is accepting you for your decision :1orglaugh:1orglaugh

Anyone can analyze dreams, it's just a puzzle of how did this dream I have relate to what was going on in the past day of my life?

Also, one thing to note is that when dreaming, this is only for a few seconds at a time, not hours. You essentially dream in pictures (or gif's) and your brain makes the connection when you are conscious of what happened... which may not be the actual dream itself, so it's important to write down exactly what you recall right when you wake up.

Thanks for your great input!

To answer that it was once. We used to have good relations, close friends ( if you could describe a man and a woman longing to have each other overcoming it due to certain circumferences ) but we defo had sparks in our relations for more then 8 years.

I rarely remember my dreams, haven't had any bad dreams in decades that I can recall, and usually I sleep soundly. :)

Enjoying a little Dead playing Sunshine Daydream today, although it's been kinda overcast in the Bay Area the past few days:
