Are you a city and sightseeing person or do you prefer just to chill at a nice beach or pool on vacation these days ??

Lake is the way to go. A nice cabin, good fishing, fresh air, firepit cooking, couple ice chests full of booze,

ahhh. I'm pining for the outdoors here.

I like camping and doing stuff i hate sitting around on holiday

City and activities. Do not like sitting around doing nothing. That is neither fun or relaxing to me.

Beach. Who wants to go to a dirty crime filled city when you can go to the beach.

Hawaii is where it's at for us.

Nobody vacations to Detroit.

There are dirty beaches, just like there are dirty cities. Plenty of good and bad of both.

If I am with people, beach for sure. If I am by myself, much easier to have fun in a city.

I've done a lot more City vacations in the last 3 years than beach just due to our location. I do prefer beach holidays simply because I tend to go for longer than I would in a city. I only do long weekends on a City holiday, that is enough time to get in and see a bunch of cool things, have a few nice meals and hit some nice bars then get back home. Anytime I do a beach vacation it is minimum 1 week, mostly 2 weeks. There is always plenty to do regardless of where I go so really it doesn't matter but, I do like to be nice and chilled on a longer holiday, I'd hate to be running around a major City for a week, that is tiring.

If you say "beach or city" several times fast, you're bound to say bitch or shitty at least once. Fun fact.

I live in the largest metropolitan area in the US.

When it's vacation time I get out to the mountains and get away from all the congestion and bullshit.

Actually on the topic though, there's nothing wrong with finding a decent city with nightlife and a beach not too distant.

I like cities with a beach. Maybe, just a city but I hate resort stuff where you sit around all day and look at waves.

I live in a tourist destination too and prefer to stay away from cities altogether. I wish it wasn't, hate seeing my beaches littered and roads congested with agro pricks...

The last time I went camping it was before a whitewater rafting trip in West Virginia. I still catch shit about my behavior. I slept in the back of my Suburban on a single mattress from my guest room. While others were collecting firewood I pulled out 3 Duroflame logs. I then pulled out my brothers 2 stroke blender and made daiquiris to go with the sushi I had in a cooler.

All purposely done to piss off my then g/f in front of her family. :1orglaugh

City by far for me.

City by a large margin. I did a beach trip about 15 years ago and it was so incredibly borrrrrrrrrrrring.........

All you people saying beach vacations are boring, please list some of these boring places, I'm really intrigued to know what you class as boring. Just because you go to a beach destination, doesn't mean you have to sit on the beach all day. I normally chill at the beach in the morning, grab a spot of lunch then go out and about doing some fun activities in the afternoon, water parks, theme parks, atv riding, or other stuff. Then night time is a nice meal and some good bars/clubs.

When someone says "beach vacation" they typically mean lounging on the beach. Your vacation sounds more like a fun vacation that just so happens to involve a beach.

I also imagined "beach holidays" as you come to the beach couple times a day for 2 hours each time and rest of the time you spent elsewhere. And I call that "beach vacation" :)

Honestly, yes. It is ridiculously stupid, in my opinion, but many people love it. They lay around on the beach, reading their books, and sleeping.

Beach holiday for me, by a long way :) I am one of those who has to be doing something new/diffent constantly, a holiday is the only time I can get out of that mode, and just enjoy the peace/tranquility with a book, the sun, and some water nearby :)

I hate getting sand in my vagina - City holidays are the best...

I guess it is open to interpretation, still, I don't know anyone who goes on a week or two week vacation and just lays on the beach all day, everyday! That would blow my mind. I guess I should say resort vacation then, that is probably more accurate. Great beaches, tons of fun activities, win win!

Maybe it's an American thing. This is why we are fat!
