how do i make it so i can switch from one to another,instead of both displaying at the same time...im using winxp:helpme

ok ill try and explain better....i use a laptop at home,and just today,i got a brand new moniter (Nec 18" LCD).
it works geat,except,when i boot up,both my moniters work,and i want to be able to use one at a time and switch back and forth from the laptop moniter ,to the new 18 " moniter,instead of having them both on at the same time.
is this possible?

If you only want one on at a time you might have to get yourself some kind of switch box thing... I think.
I've ran dual monitors, but always had 'em both going at the same time for the double wide effect.

There should be a little button on your laptop with a screen looking thingie on it. Try pressing that.
