Mine has been up.
They recently sent out a warning that they were switching servers to more powerful machines. Not sure if this is related or not. |

I just spotted they have Dreamhost too, though they don't mention them on their Wikipedia page. DreamHost is now part of the Endurance International Group! http://www.dreamhost.com/dreamscape/...ational-group/ "They bought us for 10 times our annual revenue. Two of our four founders will also serve on the EIG board. Many of our employees were made into millionaires overnight." |
EIG are the Manwin of hosting, this seems to be going on in a lot of industries, investors come in and try to buy stuff up.
These guys doing the same thing with infrastructure http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_...cture_Partners http://global-infra.com/ they buy stuff like airports, I suspect it's just the banks themselves taking control by creating money out of thin air. :2 cents: |
i guess thats what happens when you pay 5 bucks for hosting
|
15 hours of downtime
Looks like they are back up |

Just saying :2 cents: |

Host Gator has been known to bounce all the time.
BlueHost, Host Gater, Dream Host... all the same - you get what you pay for. Even in the old days (when people considered them to be better) - they just bounce a lot more now. That's why I self-host (dedicated servers)... - and yes, I know HG offers dedicated servers. |

Used them many years ago for reseller and shit worked good when it worked but was overloaded so down here and there, I'd contact them and get the bad user has been removed sites back up but I had to contact them all the time to remove whoever was overloading the server.
Moved to liquid web and my shit runs 100% uptime month after month and if shit goes bad they monitor it and I don't have to contact them. More expensive but nice to know when I'm sleeping shit is up. |
I used them for a long time. But the other day I went to a clients site and cold not access it. I thought it was my own PC or internet then tried again a few min later and it was up..
Lucky none of my clients saw this... |
Yup, if I had a business that lost $8 if my $8 hosting went down I would be pissed.
|
Did anyone switch to a new host after this specific Hostgator incident?
