Manwin unable to buy Redporn, is that an indicator of the state of industry?

If Manwin, in the past, has been straight up buying companies left and right and paying cash... why not with Redtube now?

Why would a company pay cash for every acquisition and then now, resort to *partnering*?

Seriously, you should think about that and if that is an indicator of the current state of porn.

I am sure Fabian has said that x amount was paid up front and then a per monthly payment made for past acquisitions....

Could have even been Shap who mentioned something along those lines ...

Seriously? I thought it was a done deal.

most likely because they know NO ONE else will buy them, so why be the only one with your cock out of your pants?

a partnership would probably be in the favor of both parties without going through trying to sell and have to maintain certain traffic volumes, etc., over a long period of time.

slapass 08-01-2013 07:41 PM

Maybe it was redtube who pushed for the partnership?

Very likely... but the terms would have been a set dollar amount. I remember Shap never disclosing the selling price but def. eluded to a set price for the sale.

So all these investors who provided cash flow for these acquisitions are no longer forking over the cash is what this tells me. And if Manwin was cash flow positive from all these acquisitions then they would do a buy out, not a partnership.

Which is why I think this *partnership* is a pretty good indicator that things are in the shitter... for Manwin. But Manwin represents now, from Fabiens fingers, 5% of the adult industry as a whole. I would think that number to be a bit higher, but certainly a percentage that can be considered an indicator of the larger picture.

Shap 08-02-2013 03:01 PM

Manwin is a cash printing machine imo. I don't think they are having any problems.

Regarding RedTube or any other tube. Sometimes A) the owners of the tubes refuse to sell or B) are completely delusional on what they are asking for.

Maybe i'm missing another thread and more to this story.

Why spend your cash when you can put up nothing and derive nearly as much through a partnership?

Used to be shocked at how few on GFY understood business, but then realized it is the perpetual whiners that rarely get it.

You can also come to a conclusion that partnering with just another tube site is an indicator that cash flow is tight. Redtube has absolutely zero qualities above what any tube site owned by manwin has.

So just maybe, traffic has been hit hard in manwin and in an effort to regain some of it, and lack of cash, this partnership evolved.

This is a 180 degree turn from past buy outs and def a reason to consider why. Let me find a post from fabien eluding to traffic issues just recently. Be back, on phone now.

bean-aid 08-02-2013 08:48 PM

Ok... here are the statements that def. *ELUDE* to some problems with the traffic:

Bare, I think that is likely... :) They will claim a victory against the evil Manwin since they will wrongly interpret the information read online. :)

What makes you THINK I am going to "wrongly interpret" anything?

You are such an egotistical prick (and you really have no background to be so)

Uhm.. because anybody would do so Robbie, from the outside.

The difference is that you will jump up and down of joy because of it and others will not...

From preliminary research, the way they tried to achieve that is a bit too simple though.

The major change we see is that long tail keywords have 2nd, 3rd and so on same-domain results pushed down in favour of other domains.

I agree, it does remove obvious spam, but, it also hits stuff that is not, but then again that is normal in SEO I guess. Like, if Robbie searches for "Blond chicks with big tits", before Penguin 2.0 you would have seen 2 or 3 or more links from pornhub.com as results 1-3 for example, each link going to a seperate video, and each of those video will have a blond chick with big tits in it, matching exactly what the surfer looked for.

Now, after Penguin 2.0, the first link is still pornhub.com, but 2nd one is youjizz, 3rd one is youngleafs, 4th is xvideos.

************************************************** ************
Now all of those comments are from Fabien and talking about the Penguin update back in May. 3 months ago... lets take a look at some charts snapped today.

This one is Pornhub.com

NOW ASK YOURSELF... WHAT WOULD BE THE REASON FOR A PARTNERSHIP AND NOT A BUYOUT??

I have brokered a couple deals that went that way and know of many others with that set up.

If you can't beat 'em, buy 'em.

I do not agree. I think they are a cash liability to all the investors who gave money and the ship is sinking, and fast.

Congrats on the sale... what was the dollar amount ;) ?

ajrocks 08-03-2013 08:12 AM

Red Tube I would say is a pretty expensive site compared to the others they have purchased cash. I would think their investors aren't as free with their cash now at this point either.

signupdamnit 08-03-2013 08:25 AM

I wouldn't be surprised if Redtube were having problems monetizing and they were looking to partner with Manwin in order to increase those opportunities or get better management.

The money is definitely leaving. It's all in the math and is inescapable. What it seems is holding it up now is ad revenue from scams (see other thread). Take that away and you have a tremendous drop. Still profitable but one day it will get to the point where it's on a shoestring budget with very tight margins.

I think the goal was to bring in mainstream and start putting up ads for sneakers and condoms on the tubes. But getting busted hurt that master plan and even without that they are finding it a tough sell.

mergers like this happen in the real world all the time - but how would most GFY posters know?
