isn't that a bit of an overkill + a 1000 years ? I agree about life without parole,the guy should rot, but the rest ? What is the purpose behind it lawyer types ?

The US legal system is pretty messed up. This is just another example.

I think some of it has to do with technicalities as well. Just in case he sits in jail filing appeal after appeal and is able to get part of his conviction and the life sentence overturned or reduced he still has the 1,000 year sentence.

Could be kind of like a backup system just in case.

Because life usually means about 25 years.

They get to keep the corpse for 1000 years in case someone would feel like torturing him after death......or maybe clone him for the remaining of the sentence.....

Exaclty. Somewhere along the lines someone will say "Well, we need to release more prisoners" and he'll try to get released every year mostly because he's got nothing else more exciting to do for the next forty years.

Fuck 'em. He needs to know what it's like to live in fear of being raped five times a day.
