As a webmaster, I was born in a cool place....at my best I was a mod on two boards....I rarely came here at GFY, since the bo.
ard was too fast to my liking.

I just came out of retirement, and could live without the "ban this guy", "unban Paul Markham" type of threads...

Globofun: There is still business to be done here if you have the time to weed through the endless nonsense. However, if you're looking for a more business orientated atmosphere, you may find Xbiz more to your liking.

Certainly we do significantly more business at places like Xbiz and other sites than GFY over the past couple of years. If not mistaken, I think they (Xbiz) require people to actually be in the business which would certainly make it obvious why the level of professionalism is more obvious there.

That said, there is indeed business to be found here. It just requires a greater time investment than elsewhere.

I don't visit any of the boards much any more, as I have a pretty stable list of long term clients with whom I do business year after year. But I usually end up connecting with a new client there far more frequently than here.

It's entirely possible it is coincidence and word of mouth referrals versus the direct result of board participation. I never really gave it much thought to be honest.

I've not been there myself in probably a week or more.
