Webmaster Weight-Loss Challenge (bet or contest?)

http://www.gofuckyourself.com/showth...hreadid=111641

as we were discussing in the above thread, some of us need a motivation to go down to our ideal weight.

i'm 220lbs right now and wanna go below 190lbs so i can see my sixpack again.

so far toodamnfli, eroswebmaster and teengodfather are up for the challenge as far as i understood..

so lets discuss how we're gonna make this bet or contest or whatever its gonna be, and we need to set the rules.

Count me in. I already exercise etc but I need some more motivation to drop a few pounds. I'm sick of my non-yummy-mummy tummy (two c-sections SUCK!).

Jakke PNG 02-27-2003 11:55 AM

Yeah, I wanna see my sixpack too:1orglaugh

I think we should set a clear timeframe, naturally. Like from
march 1st up until.. umm, july 1st?

the one who loses the biggest Percentage of original weight wins?

eroswebmaster 02-27-2003 11:56 AM

Yes Lane I'm in.

hershie 02-27-2003 11:57 AM

In!

Lane 02-27-2003 11:58 AM

post your weight and your goal, so maybe we can decide

TheJimmy 02-27-2003 11:58 AM

I'm at 250, need to drop to 200 to be at my kickin weight...

what's the bet?

Jakke PNG 02-27-2003 11:58 AM

How about the bet?
Challenge or cash?

I think cash. More motivation.

Depends on how many participants we get.. 100$-500$?
If we get plenty of participants the 500$ might be a bit too much for someone, although it would be sweet to win like $5k. :)

If it's a money bet, should there be a start-up fee? like 100$ from everyone that participates. If they quit, no refund.

eroswebmaster 02-27-2003 11:58 AM

Regarding money, we could just make it a $100 entry fee paid to a trusted 3rd party, if you have enough wm's this could be a tidy sum to win.

we have 5 interested so far, TGF, Lane, TDF, myself, and ladymischief...5 more makes the pot $1,000 that's a nice pot...and could get better:Graucho

Yo Adrian 02-27-2003 11:58 AM

I'll jump in on this, I need to lose 20 pounds or so.

We should make it a contest though, not a bet.

LadyM, "non-yummy-mummy tummy"? lol good stuff

kaylacam 02-27-2003 11:59 AM

Count ME in! My 6-pack has turned in to a 2 litre and I will be DAMNED before it becomes a party ball!

I need to shed about 15-20 lbs and FAST!

I seriously don't know how much I weight. According to my scale 22kg, but I think it's lying.

I'm pretty sure I weight 140-150kg, and I plan to weight less.. no idea how much though. as much as possible.. probably my final weight will be around 137kg.

I'm about 320, would like to lose by July 1st. at least 60 pounds..that's 15 pounds a month.

opflix 02-27-2003 12:01 PM

i'm down... i weigh 208 & wanna get down to 190. lets make it happen!

hershie 02-27-2003 12:02 PM

That's what I call it.. jact likes it but I hate it.. as if the scar isn't bad enough! :P

Although it's really hard to lose because of all the muscle damage there.. I do specified ab workouts (I haven't the last two weeks, was on bedrest hospital's orders) but I will be going back into full swing, and I tell you, nothing hurts like those exercises :)

tony286 02-27-2003 12:02 PM

oh boy this is going to be like taking candy from a baby I am in . I am 394 by july 1 st will be 294 100 lbs :) Who is going to hold the money? Why dont we do it til internext?

Jakke PNG 02-27-2003 12:03 PM

How do we handle the bet?

Everyone who wishes to participate paypal(?) the 100$ in advance to a trusted 3rd party? Who's the 3rd party? Someone who wouldn't gain anything by stiffing webmasters off 1000$ :)

Yo Adrian 02-27-2003 12:04 PM

I'm around 180 and need to get down to 160 or so

How do we determine fairness? I mean I only need to lose 20lbs....easier to accomplish than somebody who needs to lose 60lbs

% body fat lost, sounds fair to me.

LadyMischief 02-27-2003 12:07 PM

What about a group prize or something..something great for everyone who participates and tries... NOt everyone is going to meet their goals, but it should be motivation for everyone :)

Lane 02-27-2003 12:07 PM

yea we need to decide if this is gonna be a bet, or contest (prizes offered by other webmasters like the 1m'th post contest) , or both.

and how about we cut the money in half.. give the first half to the winner, and divide the second half amongst those who lost at least 10% (or 12%?) of their total weight or more..

No and losing weight should be reward in itself, but everyone's metabolisms are different too... I'm just trying to think of fairness :P

Well being that this is something we devised ourselves, and to keep it from getting to be too huge a thing to manage sponsor programs should not get involved.

Put up an entry fee of $100 and this thing will ony be for those who mean biz.

Rocco Strange 02-27-2003 12:11 PM

I went from 240lbs down to 185lbs without working out at all. It was the easiest thing I've ever done. - the Atkins diet. just cut out the carbs (bread, potatos, rice, etc). it's real easy.

www.atkinscenter.com

dig down in the "how to do Atkins" section, and look for "Rules of Induction".

oh, it took me less than 3 months.

I agree with TDF...winner takes all.

If we have 10 people entering in $1,000 to lose weight is a pretty big incentive, and as ladymischief already stated the weight loss in and of itself should be incentive enough.

Jakke PNG 02-27-2003 12:13 PM

Should we make a permanent website for this bet..
something simple. Like participants, and their starting weights?
I can do it if we think it's necessary.

Yeah that would be cool...and maybe something we can log our weekly progress on.

Maybe have weekly weigh ins to see who's where give us even more incentive :Graucho

I don't think we'll find many that are intrested in the physical well-being of webmasters. LOL.

I'll make some simple website after participants have been decided.

Quitting smoking would help drastically with that tiredness problem. Take vitamins, and exercise. You would be AMAZED at how revitalized you feel after a good workout. You think you'll be tired out but you end up with MORE energy.

Then again for me, I have to do a lot of physical activity every day so it's normal for me. MOving firewood, chopping firewood, etc etc, all the stuff that comes with living in the country :)

Push past it. If you're tired, it's because your body isn't supposed to be carrying around the extra weight.

The way to lose weight is to make your health more important than your lack of energy. Believe me, once you start working out, and burning it off, you will quickly start to feel better, and start to have more energy.
