Is it legal for tubes to instruct surfers to remove watermarks before uploading?

I see some tubes now have no watermark policies unless you are in their CPP (content partner program). Some even go so far as to tell the surfers to remove these watermarks and even make recommendations on how to do it. I think one even gives step by step instructions.

Isn't this basically encouraging theft in addition to showing that the tube is there for the purpose of monetizing the content of others?

You would think this would help to show intent towards encouraging copyright infringement. They aren't simply accepting all videos now and removing only illegal content. They are also removing videos with neutral watermarks and telling surfers how to remove those watermarks (which often show ownership) before upload.

It's kind of like telling people to pay you money and then giving them instructions on how to remove the marked bills after robbing a bank and stating that you cannot accept marked money.

Stolen Fake Taxi video, watermarks cut off and the prick uses the clip to sell his shitty penis enlargement secrets by commenting the video and pointing surfers to his website at the end .. LOL.

How ironic. I think Fake Taxi is Ruseful's site and I believe he helped found youporn and had/has some ties with porntube.

You would think if it ever makes it to court it could be some ammunition against them.

Interesting. Do you have an example page for this?

Correct.

But that thief uses videos of other companies as well and even thank people in the name of his "company" for watching "their" video at the begining, LOL, that impudence is just crazy

People should begin "standing their ground" against online predators.

feel free to list the sites here with urls that instruct users to strip off the watermarks. that would be incredibly damaging to them, and I for one would like to see it.

I'll keep my eye out again. I think Xhamster might be one of them. At least they only seem to allow watermarks if you are in the CPP.

I know there is at least one tube or forum out there which actually suggests programs to use in order to remove watermarks and provides a tutorial. I want to say it's a certain tube but I don't want to name them until I have proof. Stay tuned.
