WOW Googles New Service
This might be real cool, here is what I just got by email:
Dear Advertiser, We're writing to let you know about an extension of our Google AdWords program. It's called Google Content-Targeted Advertising(tm). It enables Google AdWords ads to appear not just on search pages, but also on website content pages that are related to your keywords. For you, it means broader distribution for your Google AdWords and even more qualified leads. The content pages your AdWords appear on are the non-search pages of popular sites such as HowStuffWorks, Wunderground, Blogger and many others. We realize this is something different, and we want to be certain that you are comfortable with it and have an opportunity to see if it's right for your business. As a result, between now and March 12 we are providing all our AdWords customers with free bonus clicks for ads shown on content sites. Since Content-Targeted Advertising is based on your existing keywords, when we begin charging on March 12, you'll pay the same CPC as you do for search ads. You will be able to track the results of ads on content pages in your Google AdWords control panel. And, there is no effect on your current Google advertising campaigns. If your AdWords ads currently appear on Google's partner sites, you don't need to do anything to benefit from the increased distribution, and the additional clicks are free until March 12. Yep, you are right.....it seems very interesting. Thanx for the tip!

I think this traffic will convert better then the traffic from search results

Isn't this the same thing that Microsoft was going to do with its Smart Results, the same thing that Surf + and Top Text do that every webmaster who knows about it is up in arms against?
If it's just banner ads from sites they've partnered with, that's different. But I don't see how the *CONTENT* of a blog could be turned into advertising without doing this. And the link there for more information leads to a page not found. If Google starts doing what TopText and Surf+ does... I'm done with them, and so are many other surfers. |
Odd. It's coming up 404 for me.
