Medley W-8BEN Form account suspended
 

Last week we received an email from Medley, aka cams.com and AFF that our account has been suspended because we did not send a W-8BEN form, also they mention :

Which means that we would loose over 3k in revenue. They state that they have been sending us emails since a year, I never saw 1 email, requesting to send this form. Neither did we see it in our account because we use NiftyStats to check stats.

Unfortunately we failed to see that no money was coming in from Medley for a while. In the old days they paid like clockwork, so it became a habit not to check. Another lesson learned, trust noone.

Yesterday we send in the required form and we are now subject to their mercy if we can keep our account or not, if not, we can say goodbye to our money as well. I called them and they told me I could always open a new account and start over, losing all the rev share customers as well. We have been an affiliate since 2004, even that does not seem to matter.

Ofcourse we have been stupid not to claim the money what was owed, but to terminate our account and take our money is a bit over the top in my opinion. Oh well, we send the form and its up to their "management" to decide.

Any ideas ?

i had the same problem.. just got the email..

I also have the same problem with another big sponsor. I will not tell which one.. they "forgot" to send my payments in the last 6 months. Motive: my account was incomplete (missing street number or something like this, treir motivation). It's seems BIG sponsors forgot few years ago almost begged for some traffic. Now, they are arrogant, much to "big" to send our cut.

Medley is public traded company and has to follow very strict rules of the SEC which private companies don't have to follow and why they must have record of everyone they pay.

I am not a fan of how they go about that and holding accounts hostage essentially.

However

I know I personally got like 4-5 emails from those guys over the past 12 months regarding that on different accounts. So it's hard to play the "i never saw their emails card"

I know, but I really did not see them, maybe they got into my spam folder, I don't know. Why would I not send the form and be a thief of my own pocket, throwing away years of work ?

It looks like they just released my account, because I can see my statistics now :thumbsup

so you sent the w8 to them? they asked me also, have been in chamonix, sent them email that i cannot do anything for them at the moment so what do i have to do, they never answered, i was still receiving the emails about denied payment, now i got email that my account is blocked, now i am not sure why they didnt answered me when i asked what to do, so fuck them!

I would start with any American company that pays you more than $600/year.

Elli, If I can see my stats again, our account is activated again, and all is fine ? Nobody send me an email that our W-8BEN form was accepted.

They don't actually want to pay you. I had a balance of around $90 with them since way before they introduced the requirement for this form, then they sent me a few emails saying my payment had been held pending this form as if sending the form would unlock the payment but you don't have to be a genius to know that it won't. I don't really care. My payment method there is still epassporte and i haven't send any traffic to them for years.

That doesn't even make sense. Why would a company want to lose an affiliate that was making money with them? If we ask you to send in a form, there's a good reason. FFN would prefer that all affiliates remained happy and profitable.

My emails asking for w9 went to spam. I randomly saw one in there one day and then searched and saw their were several. It's AFF. Of course most ISP are going to think it is spam.

When I called them on monday they told me there were only 2 hours left to send the docs. So maybe I just caught it in time. Did you call them ?

What doesn't make sense is replying to posts without reading them. It is not as if it was a long post. :1orglaugh

no... i will need to create a new account.. they offered to transfer the money from old account to the new one. I don't think i will make a new one.
