It could happen, but we are a long ways away from it. CGI looks good and is getting better and better everyday, but even the best CGI still lacks a soul. It is missing that certain something that makes us human. Until they can create a figure that looks identical and has motions, emotions and really puts off a "real" vibe it won't happen.

I saw star wars so 10 yrs ago it was convincing. I reason it is not done as much is when not perfected real peoples faces look rather strange in cartoons with renderings and the target audience gets spooked easily so it hasn't been pushed to the limits. I am sure some good studio max and profiler user if that is still what the movie guys use now could do some convincing 3d renderings of people. The animals drawings are already perfected.

Definitely possible, but the cost to do so would probably keep most people/companies from attempting it.

it might not be a matter of replacing real actors, it might be just good enough for viewers to like it more than the real thing... today's kids are growing up on 3D animation, movies, TV shows, games... 3D porn could be more appealing to them than to their parents.

I can see that kind of CGI content appealing to a niche audience if the technology advances quite a bit. But it would never take over mainstream porn. It's more inexpensive and quicker to hire real humans to have sex than it will ever be to have graphic artists and computer animators to create human like models with realistic features, furniture and backgrounds that look real. A big part of porn for many viewers also is that the girls or guys are real people who you could follow their careers, chat with on Twitter or possibly even have sex with yourself if they escort. It's just not interesting to become sexually obsessed with a fictional person.

The future is never futuristic. Shit will still be real.

CGI porn creeps me out. It's the whole 'uncanny valley' thing. It's not as bad when the CGI characters aren't human, which is why Star Wars, etc... doesn't have the creep factor, but when the characters are human? [shudders]

It's the eyes, I think. The flatness of them. No matter how beautifully they are rendered, there is no 'spark' behind them, no life, no soul.

Remember that movie Polar Express? I can't watch it. Can. not. watch it. The trailer alone was enough to creep me right the fuck out.

CG porn is perfect for fantastical things like that video. I don't see the point of using it to simulate reality. It should be used for the surreal.

As someone who creates CG for a living, I can tell you that one of the toughest things to do is characters that interact with each other.

I think the best/most convincing first step is CG skins over real talent... Turning uglies in to hotties. It would be the modern day equivelant to phone sex lines... Always the fear the girl is a fat slob in reality but you throw the worry out the window for the fantasy.

Being in Japan, this is already huge business whether it's anime, manga, games. It's all about a generation growing up with something familiar and when the demand is there, the costs are covered.

If ultimately what we are creating is a fantasy, then CG allows for so many more possibilities versus what we can physically shoot in the real world.

CG will be huge business in the near future. Real girls will be a novelty.

So do many of the porn chics that I've met.

That's crazy talk. Producers like me can hire really beautiful brand new female models for a few hundred bucks. Why would one bother hiring ugly or even mediocre looking models and trying to turn them into hotties with advanced CGI? The technology is far, far from that advanced yet and even if it ever will be, it's still easier to just hire real human beings on any continent in every skin color to do any perverted sex acts you want.

I think we are a bit off still. They would use this for movies long before porn.

Actually, this is a good point that I think adds to my position on this.

Ask yourself this:

Who are your favorite pornstars?

What is your favorite kind of porn?

What kind of porn don't you like and what kind of porstars do nothing for you?

Who are your favorite mainstream movie stars?

Why are these your choices? What makes a person prefer, say Tom Hanks over Bruce Willis or Edward Norton? Why does one guy love Jenna Haze, but doesn't care for any number of other girls?

For me, I prefer porn girls who have some personality and at least appear to be having fun in their scenes. At the same time I find myself not liking a lot of porn girls because they look like there is someone just off camera pointing a gun at them.

When it comes to porn I am the same way. I want stuff where the woman appears to be having a good time and everyone is enjoying themselves. For me it is a certain energy that the scenes have that make them good.

I think it is going to be very hard to recreate that that energy/spark/attitude/personality in a CGI character.

Maybe we can do it some day and depending on what you like it may be sooner than later. If a person likes watching 20 guys stand around jerking off while they wait to take their turn at pounding away on some girl who has a thousand hard stare on her face it might be easier for CGI to create that in a believable fashion than it will be to make a CGI scene where a guy and a girl, or two girls, seem to have chemistry and passion.
