What do you smoke?

I just bought the Blu E-cigarette and as a none smoker the thing is amazing.

1 - no smell
2 - no cancer
3 - cheaper
4 - no mess

I am amazed that not every smoker has switched.

globofun 07-14-2013 04:51 PM

cheaper????

I tried, and it was costing me more!!!

SBJ 07-14-2013 04:59 PM

what no hookah option? I smoke hookah daily..

slapass 07-14-2013 05:00 PM

one cartridge is supposed to be one pack. I got a five pack refill thing for like $15+tax so that is $4.30/pack.

Then a friend showed me, he buys the liquid online and refills them. It works out to $15/month for a heavy smoker that way.

They aren't the same as a cigarette.

They do smell, cost quite a bit and make a large mess.

However they are still a good quitting tool (worked for me).

Jowebart 07-14-2013 05:06 PM

Smell compared to a cigarette? Mess? Compared to ashtrays etc. As a smoker you got used to it.

Ok, new to this and maybe it is coming, what is the mess?

slapass 07-14-2013 05:07 PM

I do think they are maybe less manly and once you have quit the real thing it feels a bit stupid to do it just for the drug. You were always doing that but now it is more obvious.

For me it was more about the act of smoking rather than the nicotine. ie deep breaths due to taking long draws on a cig, smoke rings etc.. The nicotine addiction was there for sure, however that was the easiest part to get past.

What brand did you use? The Blu looks less like a toy so hoping the wife switches but if she gets one stain I am done. Not that she hasn't burned tons of clothes, the couch and me.

The Blu cigs looked like a toy when I purchased the e-cigs, however that may have changed.

More? Then you're doing it wrong!

If you get those little kits where the battery only lasts you two hours and requires you to buy cartridges, then yes it will be expensive.

The Ego batteries last for 8-12 months, a charge lasts a whole day, and the kit is maybe $65? Commercial liquids are roughly $15 an ounce, which is 15-30 bucks a month. I buy liquids in bulk now and mix my own flavors which is much much cheaper. Two ego batteries a year, a bunch of Kangor t3 replacement atomizers, and liquid all together costs me maybe $10-15 a month when you spread it out over a year.

Well actually from my point of view:
1 - smell : it has smell - that's why the liquids come with different aromas... Some buy these with smell of cigars, "camel" cigarettes, "dunhill", etc. So it has smell, but not the way the actual tobacco leaves afterwards - saturating the air, clothes, furnitures etc at home, so basically yes - no bad smell leaving afterwards.

2. cancer - http://au.ibtimes.com/articles/47379...m#.UePWd9JHJYU

3. cheaper - the only investments are with the e-cigarette itself and the liquids - so yes it's cheaper comparing to actual cigarettes. It has counter on the cigarette, which is kinda cool showing how many "sips" you made.
4. and yes no mess, but you have to "smoke" it in almost vertical position in order to avoid the spilling of the liquid - which is not cool.

- you don't look cool when you smoke it on street - especially if you get the one with bigger tank.
- no actual pleasure like lighting a real cigar or cigarette
- you can't chew it with teeth/ like cigar/ and you can't taste the actual tobacco.
- you can't smoke when driving - or you can - but you'll look like someone who has asthma and trying to get his medication with inhaler... You can't just take a "sip" without pressing the heating button.

smoke,smoke.... lots of things can smoke

Agreed, you feel a bit dumb as you are sucking in a drug but that maybe is because I am a non smoker.
No need to light it is a plus to some who live in windy conditions.
The one I bought is just like a cigarette in that you just suck. So you can do it while driving. No heating button.

I have to say, I think it is revolutionary. Why would anyone continue to smoke the old fashion way? I have noticed that everyone who is using it claims they are using it to quit. Not the best business model. No one starts with it? Or just thinks it is healthier?

I saw the articles on health. Most say that it is healthier by a lot overall.

I can't wait to see in 20 years what kind of damage the electronic fags do to the human body.

EddyTheDog 07-15-2013 06:37 AM

I smoke e-cig now - Worked well and got me off the fags - I am not sure it is a great idea to start smoking e-cigs for the hell of it - If you do, get the nicotine free liquids - It would be stupid to start an addiction now...

Best-In-BC 07-15-2013 07:49 AM

Its $12 a pack in some places here, 11.50 of that is taxes probley

??? You did it with burning cancerous herbs and now you feel a need to sermonize on cancer free (lets hope) steam? hahahaha

But yeah it is harder to justify for some reason. People feel a need to defend their e-cig as being temporary where as smokers just smoke and hope not to die from it hahaha
