it's rollercoaster time, hitting magic mountain, strategy? advices?
i lobbied to go after augsut when school is back in session and it's cooler (but mostly because rollers scare the living shit outta me and i was trying to put it off as long as possible!) but was vetoed so what's the best strategy for hitting the top coasters and the most coasters in a crowded park?
a couple tactics already planned: -going on a weekday -gonna try and arrive before the park opens, hell, getting into the parking lot, catching a tram and getting through security can take an hour+, no sense in wasting that time while coasters are running. go straight to full throttle then goliath and run to x2 and hope it's not already nutty or broken down ???? is that the suggested order? this is frought with apprehension, i'm going to shit my pants riding any of those without warming up with much less extreme coasters, right? or no? i think i need to hit 1-2 other coasters 1st and ramp up to these or will that put us in the long lines, assuming the lines get longer as the day goes on. but was also thinking maybe the lines shorten during the hot part of the day? here's a bit about mm, they currently have 19 coasters, this is a solid top 11, #4 is the latest, just opened a month ago, the world's tallest and fastest looper coaster!!!!1 Quote:

Just think of it this way, if you sit in the front that cant happen! Go on the biggest and fastest one first also look into a "fast-pass" i know they have them at Six Flags. You basically register a time to go to your ride and have access to your own special entrance when the time comes. Definitely worth it if your visit time is limited.

I was going to Magic Mountain over 30 years ago, place has really grown since then.
Yes, go during the early week, check the weather for a cooler day. Dress comfortable, bring cash. Take your time, check out the main coasters for their line and hit them when the line is smaller. Lots of fun rides there, haven't been in a long time. I'm going to Universal Studios soon, want to ride the new Transformers ride |
Take a friend in a wheelchair so you can cut to the front of the line!

Our local six flags is pretty good... The tram was every five minutes, they had some thirty lines open for security, and lines to the rides were light... This is the past few times I was there.

so what i was figurin was if the lines on the other coasters are insane (1 hour+) then buy flash passes at the park. i'm hoping to maybe ride 8-9 coasters, that would allow for 1 hour in line for each ride + 1 hour for lunch. oh, i was meaning i'm the guy that's gonna hurl! hahahah, maybe we should queue up for the last car eh. :1orglaugh Quote:
i'm with you, if we can get in 8-9 rides, we'll be stoked. but a 2 hour wait at 2 coasters throws the plan out of whack! unless we can belly right up to a couple others to make up for it. :thumbsup Quote:

To be honest after that first climb and drop, it's a pretty tame ride... |
