What is with people these days?

Maybe I'm behind in the times -- considering I refuse to use such garbage like facebook and twitter -- but I really don't understand people these days...

The other day, some random ass guy emails us out of the blue complaining about an affiliate who is supposedly spamming his affiliate link all over this random guys forums and skype. He gives us zero examples of said supposed spam... he doesn't even say what his sites are. And yet, the last line of his email is "I don't want to take this to the adult boards" as if this lame ass threat is supposed to make us jump and ban the affiliate on his word alone, with zero proof.

Another email from a member who cancelled because he can't figure out how to play an mp4 video on his computer; and ends his email with "I believe you should give me a refund before I blog the site". Again, is this threat supposed to make us jump and give in to his demand because he's too stupid to be able to play an mp4 file?

I really don't get it... is it today's society or some shit that gives people the false notion that worthless and idle threats will force people into giving in to their every demand?

Agree with you to an extent, however I recently lost it with a company and threatened them to get my money back.

Why? They supplied a part that did not fit, I had spent thousands with them and they provided zero cust service on the latest part. I will still spew negativity about them as they wasted heaps and heaps of my time proving their part did not fit, getting angry just thinking about it.

Also to actually answer your post, social media empowers everyone, that is why everyone threatens, because they know how powerful their reach can be!

Your situation is different. From the sounds of it, you were supplied with a part that was advertised as compatible but wasn't, either due to misinformation on the product specs, or through an error in manufacturing. It would be different if you bought said part, it was as advertised and you simply didn't know what to do with it.

In regards to social media though, I can see how it might possibly act as an enabler to make people think they can threaten others due to their own stupidity; but if people think that it'll somehow get them the results they demand, do they not consider that it works both ways?

Why is he complaining that someone is spamming his affilaite link? Worse case he ends up making money from it....

And how can you not use Facebook? Everyone I know is on Facebook. I wake up in the morning and in sixty seconds I am updated about what everyone I know is up to.

He was complaining that an affiliate was spamming his (the affiliates) links, not the aff links of the guy who emailed me.

It's quite simple really... I just don't use it. I refuse to use it. I don't care to let everyone on the internet know every single thing about every aspect of my life; and the "privacy" settings are a fucking joke. I also like the very idea that I can search my exact name on google images and not find a single solitary photo of myself...

This guy e-mailed me as well. I requested examples. Feel free to let me know if you hear more.

I forgot to mention, same exact text.

I agree with you 100% vdbucks.

Whatever happened to polite request followed by (largely idle) threat if polite request fails?

Unless you are selling Armani, Ferrari, Gulf Stream, etc. odds are your product is commoditized. If you are me-me and not customer-centric you will get badmouthed all over the place in the same social media that you say you don't understand and the damage is done.

The most loyal customers are those that you satisfy and make promoters of your brand (or product) who were detractors or critics. That is what differentiates your brand in the face of commoditization -- people buy from their friends and deal begrudgingly with the indifferent.

Simplified: You catch more flies with honey than vinegar. Remember that when you cuss the next disgruntled customer out.

I think you have a very major misconception here... what I say/said in a post on gfy is no indication of what I said to a customer, or a random guy who emails out of the blue making demands.

See, I love sharing that kind of stuff with my friends and family...

I started a face book thing one time but when I posted photos of my morning dump it got shut down. Never bothered again.
