I'm seeing $.50 in the US. Not sure if geo-location has something to do with it or not. Worked fine for me :2 cents:

$5 here, renewals are probably $39.99, and do they still make it hard to transfer domains? (have to call them to get auth codes, support tries to sell you discounted $19.99 renewals, etc :1orglaugh)

Seeing $5.00 here in Kansas City.

There are a ton of coupon codes online that allow you to renew for $10 or less. Look around. As far as transferring goes? I haven't looked into it. I suppose I should. Having to call support to get a domain transferred isn't necessarily a bad thing IMO. If I have to make a 5 minute phone call to get a code that protects me in the end? Ok.

I just came across the link in my travels. I use Namecheap usually exclusively. They had nothing going on right now. Whatever. It is what it is.

Do your homework I guess. If a domain I get for $.50 that would normally be 10 or 12 dollars makes me money and at the end of a year I have to pay $38 dollars for to renew (if that's the best option)? I'm OK with that.

I guess if you aren't making any money and $38 will break your bank after 365 days of monetizing it, move on. Just saying. :2 cents: :1orglaugh

You've probably got a cookie set saying you're a customer or you've had some association with them in the past. Everyone else in this thread seems to be seeing $5.00.

Why don't pay a whois protection service, if you are that worried about it. :)

Keep posting on that "other" forum and sucking information, not giving anything back in exchange...

Register.com is the worst domain registar out there. Yeah, sell you a .50 domain but send you 50 additional emails trying to sell you additional BS services. Unreal. I love godaddy but namecheap is getting more of my business lately.

Do I need to reiterate what I said before? If THIRTY EIGHT DOLLARS per year breaks your bank, because you have no idea how to monetize a domain name? Yep, you nailed it Eddy. It's not for people like you that sit around and do nothing, crying broke and waiting for a bag of cash to show up on your front door.

Or you can wait around for a dollar code to namecheap with 10 or 12 doller renewal and not make money in the meantime. It's up to you. You are a transparent fuck. I'm not even sure why you would buy a domain name. I'm guessing just to squat on it for the long run and not make a fucking dime until hopefully that day comes where somebody wants to buy idiotpoorwebmasters.com.

Those of us that actually DO SHIT on the internet do not buy domains unless we intend on actually using them or making money. If you can't monetize a domain name to make you at least that $38 back within the first 15-30 days, boy oh boy, you are doing it so fucking wrong. $38? It hurts?

Baller. :1orglaugh

They'll also call you multiple times a week to try to sell you shit you don't want. When you decide you want transfer away from Register.com and you request the auth code to be sent to you, expect to receive this email instead.

Dear Your Name Here,

You recently requested an auth code to transfer your "whateveryourdomainis.com" domain name.
Your request has been processed and at this time it has been declined due to recent suspicious activity in your account.

Register.com is committed to providing the most secure and reliable domain services for our customers.
We have implemented specific security measures to help prevent unauthorized transfer of domains to another registrar.
The type of suspicious activity that could have caused your request to be declined includes:
- Multiple failed attempts to login to customer's account
- Recent changes to the account holder's name, email address, or login ID
- Attempts to access the account over the phone without authorization
- Recent changes to the accounts password
- Domain name lock not removed
- Recent changes to billing or credit card information
