Wordpress e-commerce plugin question

Hi,

Just curious if anyone might have a suggestion for me. I am building a site for a friend that makes custom products for their customers. They also have a brick and mortar store. What they would like is for the customer to go to the site, select what they want then checkout as normal. Enter in their CC numbers etc. Instead of processing online that info is then either encrypted and sent to the site owner via email or sent to a database.

Once they get the order they actually call the customer and get the info they need from them, arrive at a final price then process the card offline using the kiosk in the store.

It seems like I can't find a plugin that can do this. All of them seem to want you to use some kind of online payment service. Any suggestions?

Thanks

That may be what we end up doing. The system they have now is just a basic site.they have a shopping cart on there that takes all the info, but doesn't process the card. They want to switch to wordpress so they can add a blog and have more flexibility with other aspects of the site and I am finding that many of the easy to use plugins simply don't want to do this.

Although I did just find a plugin that you use with an e-commerce plugin to do this so I might have the solution.

if you are going to do something with storing cc's then usually payment gateways like auth.net or maybe netbilling (i don't know) can do that for you and you charge later or whatever, but sending credit card info through email and/or storing in your own db is not a good idea at all. You should'nt store anything yourself unless your site and db's,etc are pci compliant, and even though pci compliance is a joke, it's just better to not deal with credit card handling yourself otherwise you'll have a lot to deal with if shit hits the fan

You can use the manual gateway with wpec. I used it to quote and to allow for wire transfers but can also just gain cust info until ordered.

The wordpress e-shop plugin integrates seemlessly with Paypal, Authorize.net, and many other popular payment gateways ...

I have used e-shop plugin on my sites we have built for clients ...

The primary problem is that the item the people select is kind of a "base" unit. They then call the customer and find out what kind of customization they want done on it and that adds to the cost.

Currently they have a shopping cart in place that stores the CC info a database that they can download it from the decrypt it and run it manually when they have a final total. That system doesn't seem to like Wordpress. I have told them that they should just do it all over the phone. It would be the safest way for them to handle this, but they have been doing it this way for several years now and are used to so it is hard to break the old habit.

That weould bug me.

I would not want a hone call but to just buy online. I may be out/asleep/busy when you call.

would tell them to re-think the idea, as I can see it putting people off.

If you have a shopping cart, they can add the BASE UNIT to their cart, and then select the additional components they wish to buy?

It just means that you would have to explain it thoroughly, that the said unit is the base unit, and selecting various add-ons will greatly enhance the functionality of said base unit ...

From what I understand they could add some of the customization. They make statues and they customize them to look how you want them so the customer often ends up describing to them what they want it to look like. In the past they have used forms to have people write in what they want it to look like, but they found out that often times people aren't very good at writing their thoughts down and they end up with something they don't like and return it. So, over time they have found that calling the customers and asking them is the easiest way to do this.

They have you tell them when a good time to call is and they say on the site that they will call to get the details so it isn't a surprise to client. The client can also call them.
