Anybody have sites (mainstream and adult) who accept bitcoins, feathercoins or any other cryptocoins

I am playing about with a directory for websites and shops who accept bitcoins, lightcoins, feathercoins or any other crypto currencys, so if you own one and want it listed, leave your url in this thread or pm me with it on halfpint070 at hotmail.co.uk and ill list it in the directory for you.

The directory will show an image/s of the site or shop along with a description and the website link and if its a shop it can also show a google map if its location.

This is new and only started last night, so the site will change over the comming weeks but anybody who wants thier sites listed will stay on it for 1 year and there is no need for a rep link back

Many of them have no real value apart from making money with speculation or hype... including pre- or "almost" pre- mines by the developers and their buddies. There's even software that mines the most profitable coin at the time, then optionally auto-sells (dumps) it.

Litecoin is really the only coin that tried to do something different (using scrypt), the rest are mostly just some simple tweaks to the block target and difficulty. Any idiot who knows how to modify some values and compile from source can do it.

I think a few sites take it these days.

I am creating a shoppers directory for any websites or shops who accept cryptocoins so that does not concern me :)

Petra 06-25-2013 12:38 AM

FreeOnes accepts bitcoins.

PhoneSexKing 06-25-2013 02:03 AM

My point was that many altcoins will never achieve critical mass as a true/useful currency because people are mostly trading them for profit, rather than using them to pay for goods and services.

nexcom28 06-25-2013 03:48 AM

Camdough accept bitcoin on all their sites

adultmobile 06-25-2013 06:41 AM

Yep I do see your point but I am finding that a lot of both mainstream and adult sites are accepting bitcoins which people dont even know about.
What I am doing has nothing to do with how long a cryptocurrency lasts or whether its being used for trading for profit or paying for goods. I am only putting together a list of sites and shops that accept bitcoins or any other types of cryptocoins.

This is what I like about Namecheap, even when you contact them regarding listing thier site, they actually get back to you, unlike some others I have sent emails to.

Thanks Namecheap for taking the time to reply back :thumbsup

So to make your own coin version you just need to take source and compile it?I want to make "fixed coins" which wont change value ever so it can be more reliable as payment method.

Not that I entirely disagree, but Litecoin was not the first scrypt coin and also is a clone with some modified parameters.

True, a lot of those alts might die sooner or later, Weedcoin, Porncoin and a lot of others died fast, Sexcoin struggles to stay alive but Doubloons did pretty well for a pure fun coin (although Doubloons seem to be stuck in the difficulty trap at the moment).

Anyway, even those who died served a purpose. Some of them used extreme settings, for block target for instance, and I am sure a lot of the serious DEVs watched closely what worked out and what not.

Feathercoin has a hard working DEV team, a very active, growing community and survived two massive 51% attacks. Phenix Coin is developed and backed by a company and follows a biz plan instead of crypto coin fashions. Both of them are working on making their coins a functional and easy to use currency (for customers and merchants), something BTC and LTC seem to lack.

Have a look at http://www.coinchoose.com/ to see how many "new" coins have been released recently. A couple of months ago there were about 10 coins listed there, and most had been in existence for almost as long as Bitcoin... the rest is change the source a bit, make an announcement, get rich quick filler...

(tip: most of the pump and dump crap coins are pointed at cryptsy)

Im not so sure they will now. I thought the same about bitcoin over a year ago and its still going and getting more popular, for sure you will see a lot of others come and go but I really dont see the end of crypto currencys for a long time now.
