bad day for anyone who smokes pot

the US DOJ and DEA are taking down any site selling bongs, pipes and other 'drug' paraphenilia, along with brick & mortar stores.

chong, from cheech and chong was also arrested... 3 years in prison and 250k fine if they are convicted.

unlike in canada were we have shops like the friendly stranger (http://www.friendlystranger.com) that are totally accepted and mainstream, located on the busiest shopping strip in downtown Toronto selling what-have-you...

scary times, man.

I hate it when laws get enforced.

stile 02-26-2003 12:58 AM

it's pretty crazy just how many sites out there are selling bongs and pipes... there are thousands of 'em.

Although I am very anti drugs, I can see the potheads points about more important matters than busting bong sellers.

The whole war on drugs is not winnable.

We won't torch the drug fields in these countries because it would create international incidents, and we would have to spend tax dollars to pay off the farmers.

We won't bust the big kingpins because they have high priced sleazy lawyers who would use every loophole in the book for their client, and cost taxpayers millions to try and prosecute.

We won't put the dealers in prison for any significant amount of time because of croweded prisons and overall soft justice system.

We won't force drug addicts to undergo mandatory rehab because it would violate their civil rights etc.

So its like whats the point. Democracy is a good thing, but the war on drugs illustrates one of its big weaknesses. Wheras a communist country like China has almost no drug problem because they rule with iron fist.

I hope you don't think tougher sentences will stop the drug problem. China kills drug smugglers, yet people still smuggle drugs. Hmmmmmmm
