Any Country Music Fans Here?

When I was in in my 20's I thought country music was stupid. Now in my "over the hump" years, I see those country & western music writers know more than I ever could imagine.

Drunk - yes
Divorced - almost
Love My Country - absolutely
Wear A Cowboy Hat - no way
Boner For Hot Country Chicks - always

I like George Straight, Sugarland, The Judds (not the fat one), Johnny Cash (Folsom Prison Blues is awesome), and yes, I like those gay Swan Brothers from "The Voice".

Play it backwards and you can get your dog back, your truck back, your boat back and your pride back. But don't play too much of it backwards or you'll get your fucking wife back.

I've been on a Jamey Johnson kick lately. That guy is amazing.

Not a fan of all country, especially new country, but there are a handful of artists (mostly older) I really like.

Listening to this right now...

I too always used to think it was shit, now I am not still convinced totally, but am dipping my toes into bluegrass and am loving The Punch Brothers since I saw them at a festival last year.

and I dig Larkin Poe too, also amazing live.

the only country music i can listen to is hank3. most country is just pop music with twang in their voices now.

I've recently gotten hooked on it.

I am a big fan of folk music, which has a rich leftist tradition, but I'm considerably less into country music, especially pop country music, particularly since it so often has a conservative message.

With that said, I enjoy Willie Nelson, and various other country artists, and appreciate it when country performers break the conservative stereotype mold:

It was a terrible day. Two music lovers were being held hostage and both were going to be shot. One of them was a country music lover and the other enjoyed all types of music.

Before they were shot they were asked for one last request before they died.

The country music lover said, "I would like to listen to 'Achy Breaky Heart' 50 times in a row."

The other music lover said, "Please, shoot me first."

I used to hate country, as I get older tend to like the newer more pop sounding country...
