rock and roll

as I canadian i list america and england as my fave countries because of the music produced in said locations.

yesterday my 21 year old son said he wants to devote his life to making music. he gets it and I'm proud and relieved!

cant stand wallpaper product swill as heard on american idol etc. am a punk for life, with an ear for melody and state of awe for a great lyric.

thrilled to back in porn because it's more rock and roll than todays' rock and roll...

please, discuss...

gone are the days of real punk music. todays youth will never have the feeling of screaming out social d lyrics, or dead kennedys blaring at 3 a.m....hell, most kids these days don't even know who sid vicious was. it's a tragedy really. oh well, i'm going to flip on the radio and listen to another taylor swift song.............

punk is an attitude, not a time period.

So what you are saying is your kid isn't college material.

There are plenty of punks still around. Punk is dead though.

If you can find it still I suggest the book "Please Kill Me" it's a great read about NY punk starting in the 60's written in first person.

Sex Pistols (merely a spin off from a clothing boutique) were as carefully manufactured and marketed as any Lady Gaga or Justin Bieber of the last 30 years. In fact I'd credit the latter with more soul for not pretending to be anything more significant than entertainers.

yeah i don't get it either. there is still good music out there but definitely not on the radio. i never much cared for the newer punk bands like nofx. i found they all sound the same. i like the old british punk, the us hardcore punk. i try and see the dayglo abortions when they come to ottawa, you get to see all the punks come out in their mohawks and leather, some old, some younger. they're still out there.

Unless you're going to be a doctor or a lawyer, college is for suckers.

As a college graduate who is not a doctor or lawyer, you're correct to an extent. There are always exceptions, but a college degree isn't everything.

As a degree holder and a current student, I'm right...and to more than an extent. :winkwink:
