Who here knows, checks or cares about their Site PR

Personally I don't think I checked any of my sites PR since 2006.

Kelli58 05-29-2013 03:58 PM

If you don't know what is going on with your site, that's really sad. Telling people you haven't kept up with something as simple as PR doesn't exactly bode well for you.

Dankasaur 05-29-2013 04:00 PM

My control panel keeps me updated on PR and Alexa changes and what their previous ones were.

nexcom28 05-29-2013 04:24 PM

Why do I need to know about pr? I get great seo traffic and I don't do or buy link exchanges. I couldn't care if I am pr 1 or pr 6. As long as the traffic keeps coming.

Fat Panda 05-29-2013 04:28 PM

pr is meaningless

PR has always been useless. My blogs would drop in PR ranking, only to see an increase of traffic. I would rather have more traffic than a PR ranking.

How has Penguin 2.0 worked out for you?

Traffic has gone up.

To Rochard, PR still has meaning, it's what Google values your site. It may not mean much to you, but it's still a valuable thing in search and how Google ranks sites.

NewNick 05-30-2013 03:45 AM

Just checked the pr for one of my sites for the first time in years.

I was amused but not surprised that the page rank is only 2.

Google has always hated the site.

Which is strange because the buying public love it. 100k uniques a day. with overall traffic 50/50 new and returning.

No traffic purchased, and the google traffic is mainly peeps typing the url into google rather than into the url bar.

We build sites for customers not google. Then my business is not reliant on the whims of what google says is, or is not a good site. If we get some google love that is great, if not I really dont care.

Every month revenue goes up and traffic goes up.

AllAboutCams 05-30-2013 04:18 AM

PR is a load of crap

No. It is not.
Google stopped updating and using public PR more than two years ago.
You'll find plenty of low PR sites ranked above higher PR sites.
Sadly the only value of PR now is people request it during link trades and scammers buy domains with PR, don't update them at all and then sell useless hard links on 'PR3 sites'

PR made it too easy for link buyers to determine where to buy links. That made gaming the system easier and was the opposite of what Google wanted. Instead of removing it entirely, Google left it up as a vestigial bit of misleading data to confuse and waste the resources of uninformed webmasters relying on badly outdated information.

PornDiscounts-V 05-30-2013 04:32 AM

PR is not how Google grades your site. It is just one of many factors Google looks at. I have had PR 5 and 6 sites with little to no traffic and PR 1 or 2 sites with tons of traffic and SERP results. My customers seen to give a shit about my sites PR otherwise I wouldn't even think about it.

I care about who sends me checks and how to make them bigger more than anything else.

beerptrol 05-30-2013 06:06 AM

PR is more for those who are selling or buying hardlinks

Been that way for year but people still ignore the facts :thumbsup

slapass 05-30-2013 07:00 AM

There has always been low PR sites that out rank high ones but after a period of time of link building PR goes up. It must still be updated. So if it shows a higher linked site then it has some relevance. Sort of thinking out loud here.

It is so easy, I guess i want it to have relevance.

TheSquealer 05-30-2013 07:41 AM

People don't even understand the difference between toolbar pr and page rank. So these discussions are always idiotic at best.

PUBLIC PageRank is useless, but PageRank itself is highly valued part of Google's ranking algorithm, but hey, what do I know, I'm just another person with a opinion on Google. Everyone seems to have their own version of how Google ranks sites and nobody is right.

Marquis85 05-30-2013 08:48 AM

I dont know if PR is such a big deal as it used to be.. I check mine regularly and it's pretty useful when I'm using linkspun but that's about it..
