Why don't people use adult warning pages?

Why don't most porn websites nowadays use adult warning pages anymore?

Do they reduce conversion rates? I don't understand why anyone wouldn't use them.

I use one for my Chaturbate white label just for SEO.

baryl 05-25-2013 09:42 PM

No reason to. Why add another step for the user?

duk75 05-25-2013 09:43 PM

It usually affects SEO, and now most use a pop in window, and a code label that indicates to the child protections software (and the search engines) that it is a porn website.

Everyone just started assuming that warning pages were for pay sites as all the free sites started dropping them.

seeandsee 05-26-2013 03:15 AM

Struggle4Bucks 05-26-2013 08:22 AM

I think that paysites need to have those pages or they are not compliant with visa regulations...

some countries has law stating adult websites should have warning page or else they ban the site in their country.

mavruda 05-26-2013 11:35 AM

I got that kinda page on my site - CCbill required it before I got approved to work with them.... so I have warning page.

Exactly. The more clicks you have till a surfer pays you money, the higher the risk of him loosing interest and clicking out.

Because there has never been a legal precedent set that actually shows a warning page protects a site owner from prosecution, in any country, ever...

I used to, but found it an unecesary step for freesites. Conversion-wise this is the wisest choise.

For the paysites, we use warning pages on most. However, it only pops up if you hit the root of the domain, link codes from NATS link straight to tour. As for conversions, don't think it affects anything either way for them because of how it's setup. Another effective way would be to have a warning lightbox with "enter/close" and "exit" set to only show on first visit.

Suggestion: Make the warning an image and use the rest of the page for seo and marketing.
