Can you Geo-Block a website?
I've Googled it and there's plenty of stuff on Geo-Blocking video streams to countries, but I'd like to block a website from being seen in a certain country. Sure, I know with a VPN you can get around it, but is there an easy way to Geo-Block?
Why? Because I'm gearing up for another shoot in Bogota and if I could block the site from being seen in Colombia, it would open a whole different avenue of models to choose from. And it's not like my target audience is Colombian anyway. Thanks and sorry for a business thread on a Saturday! |
Using MaxMind you can detect the geo of your visitor and block it using htaccess if you'd like.

Yep, I recommend .htaccess too.
Look what I find: ip2location.com/free/visitor-blocker |
You can also use http://www.geoplugin.com made by GFY user Borked. Very good, can detect and redirect based on that too.. I use it in a lot of stuff. Very accurate.

block ALL
allow CERTAIN counties Best policy, especially in 3rd world countries where IPs can be from other countries. Example: Some Dominican IPs are actually Florida IPs. Some Philippine IPs are Japanese. Etc. Has to do with whatever company is there providing internet and what they tunnel through. Best way it's been explained to me, anyways. Anyways, point being, it's the best way to go. |
Thanks so much for the responses! I'll check it all out.
