Manwin looking for an adult industry charity or fund
 

Part of Manwin's agreement with ICM is that ICM contributes $2 for every new .XXX domain name registered after April 30, 2013 to a designated fund of Manwin's choice.

Because this fund is intended specifically to support an adult entertainment industry cause, Manwin is leaving it to the community to decide on it.

Please post your suggestions on which adult industry related charity or fund you would like to see the money support.

Let?s keep this thread going for a week, at which point we will create a voting thread based on the top suggestions.

If you really want to have a direct, positive impact on the Industry, I'd suggest using the funds to help pay for the court expenses repealing the 2257 regulations.

Personally, I think the beneficiary of the money should be changed every quarter. The industry should choose 10 charities or funds per year, and then have quarterly votes. It may turn out that ASACP may win every vote, but I'm sure right now, the legal expenses for 2257 fight fund would be the best fit. As that would be my vote right now.
Another note, it would be good if the charities/funds that the industry nominate actually did a "campaign" leaflet to tell us why they should get my vote.
Just my thoughts though.

And want to add, regardless of wether you approve/disapprove of either Manwin or ICM or both companies, I think the deal that has been agreed between the parties with the $2 per new .xxx domain is very positive for the industry.

That seems like a viable, fair approach. This would also allow industry related charities/funds to get their message across.

I would also invite their representatives and give them the opportunity to give a brief overview of what they do and why their cause is the most deserving.

Even better, it would introduce accountability. If a fund got included for a quarter and had to show what they did with it as a direct result, for a chance to be included again in a future quarter, they would have a strong incentive to accomplish more. :2 cents:

We take our rights to publish materials on the web for granted these days. It was not always this way, and many good people (Like Larry Flint for example) have suffered at the hands of an overbearing government.

We owe our livelihoods and our freedom to organizations that came before and are now only really represented by the Free Speech Coalition.

If we ever believe that we have a "right" to do what we, as an industry do, we could be blindsided. Even in the last few years, we have had producers go to jail. Many of us cannot even open bank accounts (as widely reported last week).

It would help everyone involved to ensure our business continues to gain ground and recognition and acceptance, then Manwin should fund the FSC and ensure that it continues to fight the good fight on all of our behalf!

I think like someone else mentioned donate to a couple different charities or funds I know around christmas time forest has that one for children, maybe just donate to a different one each month.

I dont like the idea of giving it to any organization where board members pocket $50k or $100k a year. I'd like to have that clarified first.
