Show me your Harley

... and I'll show you mine

I finally got a phone with a camera that doesn't suck, so I snapped a couple images on my Sunday ride and thought I'd show my baby off :)

(btw a better camera doesn't necessarily mean a better photographer) :winkwink:

My 2006 FXDWG(I) Dyna Wide Glide
Corbin alligator seat, Screamin' Eagle exhaust, remapped, a few extra chrome pieces.
I just had the wheels re-laced with polished stainless steel spokes
The chrome lower legs and hand controls are on order, all braided stainless steel cables and hoses are planned for when I add the 14 inch chubbie bars, going to lose the rear seat and pegs at the same time. :)
The chrome brake calipers will come later this year.
(in case you didn't notice, I like chrome)

Pine Mountain Club is on my short list of retirement places, I went up Cuddy Valley Road to Mount Pinos for the first time yesterday, going to go back up there soon.

I looked at the Road Kings when I was shopping for a bike, they are much better suited to the kind of riding I like to do, I'll cover 700 miles in a weekend.

But I hadn't been on a bike since my last wreck 20+ years ago I decided to go with a lighter machine, in a couple years I may trade her in on a Road King or possibly a Street Glide.

Nice, I used to ride my friend's 92 Heritage long ago when I lived on the east coast, he has an 03 now and he's thinking about getting rid of it, I may make him an offer just to be able to ride it clear across the country.

hey, mk, nice look fxdwg too, btw.

my 1st h-d was this 1984.5 king of the road flh, very rare, it was a mid-year motor between the shovel and evo, it had the shovel bottom-end and all evo upper. this bike is still in the family

my last h-d, 2008 fxdfb, i tricked this out myself, cept for the motor, lot's of massaging there!

I stopped riding after a bad crash in 1992, I just started again after moving back home to the west coast, now I consider that to be all lost time.

I hope you haven't stopped riding permanently, didn't you have a carrier to take Chaco with you?

The jap cruisers and baggers are getting better every year, they are cheaper to buy/maintain they run smoother, quieter, are much more efficient and I see more and more of them on the road.

But they just ain't a Harley :winkwink:

Skip ahead to 55 seconds for something no japanese bike can duplicate :)

(not me btw)

And nothing wrong with a 'Vette either it just has two wheels too many :1orglaugh

we'll see, prolly done though, after what i figured to be ~300,000 miles on the bikes, i got rid of em all, i think i've had a ton of fun and been lucky not having any super major bad crashes.

what's the nickname i would know you as?

That thing is sweet!

I like the no cable look, but it takes more $ than I can commit atm

I really like how you trimmed and shortened the back fender, that's something I'm going to have to look into, the stock one sticks out way to far to the rear and makes the whole back of the bike look awkward.

hey thanks, it was fun to build and a blast to ride.

that fender was a bitch to cut, i think it took me 2 fenders!
it was measure a ton, cut a little, check it out, cut some more. oops, too much.

the easy way is to switch to the other dyna fender, forgot what it's called, it follows the wheel more, but then you lose the bobtail.

My first thought as well. Chevy's ad agency couldn't have done a better job.

Grapesoda question, It's muddy, snow on ground, road is wet and car looks perfect. Teflon paint?

The bobtail look is one of the things that initially drew me to the dwg, I'm going to see if I can find an aftermarket fender that fits somewhat tighter to the wheel and is shorter, I'd also like to move the license plate to one side but so far I can only find aftermarket mounts for softtail. Looks like I may have to fab a few things.

There's a saying about there being two kinds of bike riders. There's the ones who have had crashes and the ones who are going to have crashes.
I've had my crashes and more, maybe I used up your quota as well :)

My pegs are showing a little damage on the bottom too but with forward controls it's usually my boot heel that scrapes first, that can be a bit startling :1orglaugh

there's a side mount license plate bracket for dynas. it connects at the axle, if i recall. also, the dyna sub-forum at hdforums has a lot of info.
