Star Trek was fucking awesome!

Hit it out of the park! And the back story from a previous classic was a great story line.

When Kirk dies at the end, some chick next to me started to cry. She told her boyfriend that it sucked because now there wasn't going to be any other movies. Her boyfriend looked over at me and gave me that "help me" look as he hugged her. Even the girl I was with told me, "Isn't this the prequel to the other movies? There's no way he's dead."

noshit 05-19-2013 07:09 PM

As a real Star Trek fan I can not stand the spok/ohura romance.

It's so lame.

EddyTheDog 05-19-2013 08:22 PM

I might have to make a trip to the cinema...

When Kirk dies at the end

how does Kirk die?
does kirk smoke weed??
does kirk have a ponytail>??

I like how they flipped the Spock/Kirk scene at the reactor. They borrowed enough from Wrath of Khan, but changed it up enough to make it surprising.

AllAboutCams 05-19-2013 09:22 PM

was Spock i different guy in this movie

DumpManager 05-19-2013 10:46 PM

I can't wait to see this.

The game however is terrible.

I don't know if I like the Uhura/BloodyFace romance but... I LOVED Benedict Cumberbatch as Khan! While I saw the ending coming (s'rsly? experimenting on tribbles?), I enjoyed the ride.

Two thumbs up for a fun popcorn movie!

Spock/Uhura romance can only be wrong for anyone who today is 30-40 years old, but younger people - the main source of income for those movies - may like it, and the old people will soon die and no more be customers anyway.

About this movie, I just say I prefer the previous one. A main reason it is I never was a fan of the original Khan episode of 1967 or the movie of 1982 and so it would have been strange I liked yet another Khan remake. Even if Benedict Cumberbatch it is convincing with his scifi face. The original Khan played by Montalban reminded me "Fantasy Island" tv serie so I looked spaceships looking around "where's the midget"?

Why I don't like the Khan episodes or movies: from Star Trek, I expect one or more of time-warp, aliens and deep space exploration, rhese was present in previous episode, but not in Darkness one. Except not-useful cameo's, this all happens within solar system, between humans and in one time only. You can say "but Khan is genetically modified so maybe valid as alien", I answer I watch Gattaca if I want a movie on the topic.
So perhaps the movie is good as a movie but is the remake of one of the few I don't liked in first place, they had to put more aliens and time warp it all to make it appeal to me.

HA! :) I think I don't like it because I keep expecting Uhura to be drugged and then wake up tied down to a bed being tortured and dealing with BloodyFace's mommy issues.

Okay, well, some of that might not be too bad afterall.... :thumbsup

LOVED the movie. Although I feel that the first movie had more heart and fun, this one had more action and nods to die-hard Star Trek fans. And Benedict Cumberbatch? Wow what a great actor this guy is.

One strange thing I think I noticed. During the end credits of the first movie, almost all of the planets had atmospheres. Did I miss something, or did they forget atmospheres on all the planets this time around? (I'm talking end credits only).

My boyfriend would have probably broken up with me if I got that little from the movie :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh
