Fountain update

Big day today..they pulled the forms that create the walls of the basin.

They used a tinted concrete so the color is consistent. The detail in the stone forms is impressive. The picture is from my cell and you can still see detail in each individual stone. The picture doesn't really do the process justice.

Because of all the rain we are behind schedule but the men are working the weekend. Next comes the cap stone.

I don't see a fence ….. I would be afraid of making a water-feature where neighborhood kids might drown. Just a thought you may want to run past your ins guy.

It's going to have landmines in the authentic recreation of the Battle of the Somme they are landscaping around it. No kid is going to make it within a couple of metres of the fountain.

There are no codes at all for fountains. The standard is 18" deep and that's what it will be filled too. It's not really in a neighborhood though. It's an industrial park and the fountain is a long way from the street. It sits out in the open on a 16 acre front lawn. And there is a real nice lake down the street about a half a mile with a public beach.

Not that it would help, but there will be video cameras set up on the building to keep an eye on what's going on. Wind speed permitting it will be running from 5 am to 11 pm daily and I am hoping that people in the city come by and enjoy it.

Any coins tossed in to the fountain will be donated to the local food pantry this fall.

I knew you probably had it covered but it's just in my nature to see potential problems. Looks good!

A fountain on a wooden foundation, is that a good plan?

Those are concrete forms. There is a 12" thick cement foundation under it.

And I do agree..a wood fountain would be a bad plan.
