Diazepam

So my daughter were hospitalized yesterday with breathing problems and had a shitty doctor basically kicking my wife and daughter out of the hospital this morning saying my daughter is a hypochondriac and sent her home with a bag of 2mg Diazepam pills to calm our daughter down.

I looked up Diazepam on the interweb and its some serious shit, why would a doctor give that to a 25kg, 10 year old girl.

We are going back to the hospital tomorrow raising some serious shit because the way they treated my wife and my baby I won't accept that and I don't care care how old you are or your education. I just want whats right, and if our baby is not getting better in the nxt 24 hours is the next hospital.

Grapesoda 05-18-2013 11:06 AM

diazepam=vallium

nikki99 05-18-2013 11:07 AM

I hope your daughter gets better Michael O

I love Diazepam I take kit when I am bored

ChellyS 05-18-2013 11:30 AM

Like them to too.. kind of like Xanax or Klonopin but god damn giving them to a 10 year old kid, thats a unreal doctor

SpicyM 05-18-2013 11:39 AM

It is a well known drug similiar to Xanax. It has a strong calming effect and it can make you sleepy. I like it, helps me when I am nervous but definitely not for children.

If you're still in Thailand it is a loss cause (bitching with the hospital). Best you can do is get on the expat boards and find a doctor who specializes in children and go see that doctor. The hillbilly doctors in your neck of the woods are generally worthless and will push pills faster than you can pay for them. Some even have fake medical degrees that they paid for but didn't go to school for. Yes, really. They seem to get away with it up country a lot more than in the cities. They usually catch a few fake docs every year.

You MUST do your homework on EVERY pill they give her and EVERYTHING they say. Look it up right there at the hospital before you pay for it.

Change hospitals ASAP if you think it is serious. And get a 2nd opinion ALWAYS when it comes to these monkeys.

Good luck.

They gave her Valium? The last thing you want is her to become addicted to that shit. Seek a 2nd opinion quickly.

adulttraffic 05-18-2013 12:48 PM

One side affect of Valium is weak or shallow breathing, not sure why they would give that to a child with breathing problems

TracyCam 05-18-2013 01:39 PM

2mg is not all that much.

crazy to give that to a kid

Lichen 05-18-2013 02:23 PM

2mg of Valium is a very low dose.

Adult dose is 10mg.

You are all fucking idiots. During hospital stay they prescribe benzos to virtually everyone.

It's not "serious shit".

Really now.. You are such a charmer. Ever heard of benzo tolerance and benzo physical dependence? You really think that's good for 10year old? :321GFY

You develop tolerance/dependence if you take it every day for a month or more.

A few days of 2mg is nothing.

Could be. So I thought second opinion won't hurt.

crunkedge 05-18-2013 03:40 PM

2mg is very very low, but for child is norm, I like diazepam, I had serious problems with the nerves and after 5 mg treatment I cured.

woj 05-18-2013 03:47 PM

Lichen is right, 2mg is nothing, a cup of chamomile tea is more sedating than 2mg valium... I would do what the doctor suggested, but if you are concerned give her half the dose (1mg) for a couple of days, and see what happens...

She'd feel it, but still a very low dose especially if she's recently ate any protein or drank any liquids like milk. I was a caregiver for 6 years of my life.

It does not cure, it only suppresses.

pr0phet 05-18-2013 03:58 PM

Definately dont listen to the doctor and take the advice of gfy.

Give her 2 bitcoins and she will be fine.

Crazy Enough 05-18-2013 04:02 PM

That's crazy. This drug is a hardcore solution for a child. I hate psychiatrists. They think they are gods and they can read minds, and all they can do is drug people to live like a vegetable. They don't cure anyone. They fuck with people.

I'm not sure about the condition of your daughter, maybe she has some physical problem, maybe she has some kind of psychological problem.

When I was a kid, I had a condition like paranoia where I truly believed that I was sick. So after visiting several doctors and making several tests, I finally accepted the truth that I was ok and that was a creation of my mind.

No matter what she is facing, Diazepam don't cure anyone. Just dope.

---

Hypochondria, sometimes referred to as health phobia or health anxiety, refers to excessive preoccupancy or worry about having a serious illness.

livexxx 05-18-2013 04:12 PM

Why would you want to go and have an argument and waste your time and not try for a second opinion?

Get a second opinion, put health as your priority, then go and have an argument for ego

And the hardcore hangover next day sucks too, that shit is horrible. Makes me feel like I have weights tied to me feet.

slapass 05-18-2013 06:15 PM

This is a pretty small dose and she won't mix it with alcohol like most of the folks who mentioned it above.

I weight 70KG an If I take 5mg of valium it knocks me out and I feel groggy the next day.
I respect you were a care giver.

2013 05-18-2013 07:48 PM

you guys are nuts start using more drugs

Theo 05-18-2013 08:10 PM

Definitely check with another doctor.

Michael O 05-18-2013 08:29 PM

I always check the medication before anyone is allowed to take any medication because you can't see a doctor here without coming home with 7 different kind of pills. This is supposed to be the best hospital in town and is not cheap by Thai standards.

She is better today but if she get worse we will head to the next town (Ubon) which is a lot bigger than here and I am told they have some pretty good hospitals.

Very true -

I'm prescribed it for the 3 slipped discs in my back/neck - it helps by supposedly relaxing the muscles so I guess I can see where you doctor was coming from - but they do like to medicate kids these days :(

During a bad week if I take the dose as stated by my GP - by day 5 I'm pretty down and low with just the edge taken off the pain.

:1orglaugh

Seriously though, its one of the most commonly prescribed drugs in history and 2mg is very low, even for a child.

jscott 05-19-2013 12:52 AM

I just bought 20 xanax 1.0mg pills today, 600 baht :)

But ya, I agree that is messed up to put a 10yo on Valium already.

A more popular muscle relaxer in the states is: Cyclobenzaprine (Flexeril). It's a skeletal muscle relaxant and not a benzodiazepine (Valium, Xanax)

You better stockpile, starting June Xanax stops being a controlled substance and becomes a banned one in Thailand.

The decree sets June 17 as the date on which ALL sale, manufacture and import of the drug will be banned. so no more Xiemed, at least not at current prices.

I'll miss it for my long haul flights and hangovers. Or maybe the decision has been reversed already TIT.

Go to the biggest hospital wherever you are and ask for "stilnox." It is generic Ambien. EXCELLENT for flights. If memory serves you are in Pattaya. If so, Memorial has it. It is expensive, but you can cut a pill in half and it will probably put you down. It does me anyway. But don't take it for too long (as in months on end).

One pharmacist said the hospitals will still be able to get Xanax, it's just the pharmacies that can't. Oddly, the pharmacies can still sell Valium and a few others. As usual, Thailand defies all logic. But yea, stock up just in case.

Markul 05-19-2013 10:51 AM

Damn, sorry to hear that, hope it all works out Michael

alias 05-19-2013 03:13 PM

Take the valiums yourself and call another doctor.

If he gave u 2mg's, cut in 1/4's or 1/2's. He just saved you from having to fill the script more often. Its really not that big of a deal. Just take a step back and look at it from that perspective. What is raising hell at a hospital going to accomplish? You push and theyre going to push back harder.

They gave her a medication which is used to treat that issue. Its only meant to be used in cases where she urgently needs it. Its not like shes going to be abusing the stuff or even have that outlet...shes 10.
