What the hell is Counterstrike?
 

Ok here's the deal, I've seen some of you guys mention this game so I know you guys know all about it.

I was in a cyber cafe in Washington over the weekend. While I was killing time I decided to try to play Counterstrike. After being humiliated on the LAN by 14 year olds yelling at me to drop some bomb I decided to quit... after shooting at all of them (the lil bastards)

I used to be a video game pro. From Pong all the way to Age Of Kings but I've slacked off in the past few years and now my gaming mojo is in question.

So I decided to go shopping on Kazaa for Counterstrike all I could find was Half Life. What's up with that? CS looks nothing like Half Life so what's the relation?

Fuck it, it sucks. Full of cheats and 14 year olds.

Get Battlefield 1942.

I can relate! I had an unbeaten streak on Madden that lasted about 2 years. Now I get beat by people who don't even know how to play on my XBox. I'm just not the full time junky I once was.

Thats what everybody says...Theyve already started MODDING Battlefield 1942 a lot so I imagine you'll start to hate that soon...

Counter strike is a half life mod..pretty kewl actually..you need half life installed first..
If ya wanna get into shooter games, I'd say go with Unreal tournament goty edition..I graduated from half life to that a few years ago..if ya wanna play with some older gamers, let me know..my bf makes maps for ut and is a member of a clan that can kick the living shit outta those 14 yo snotnosed game palying wannabes..lol..so can I for that matter,,LOL..we play every night and on weekends

I, personally, don't like CS. Games that aren't realistic at all and have re-spawns each match are pointless. Go with the "realistic" games like Tom Clancy's Raven Shield. :thumbsup

Counterstrike rocks, but DO NOT play it over the net. You want the cheating little pieces of shit in the same room with you so you can beat the crap out of them if they try it.

You will get pummelled by cheating little shits on CS on the net. Don't do it.

I second Labret's recommendation - buy BF1942. It's being modded, that's a good thing. It doesn't have any major cheats for it yet - also a good thing.

And it's the best shooter there is for multiplayer. Very good thing.

ah counter strike isn't that bad if you join the right servers. its pretty fun, i wouldn't mind owning up pornwolf on it ;) 1.6 is coming out soon i believe (or may already be out) and i guess its supposed to be better...

but anyways, get Half life, then download the half life update, then download the latest counterstrike. and get a program like gamespy or kali to look for the servers.

People were saying the 1.6 version sucked mainly because of the overuse of the riot shield.

I liked Counterstrike and Day of Defeat... both Halflife mods... but as soon as Battlefield 1942 came out... I am all about Battlefield 1942!!! That game is the best thing going. :thumbsup

Counterstrike sucks. Never understood the fascination with it. All those fucking fruitcakes jumping around like a bunch of kangaroos. You motherfuckers spend more time jumping than anything else.

You can always tell someone from a CS background on BF1942 because they always hop everywhere they fucking go.

CS is one of the highest selling, highest ranked games of all time. Don't play it myself, but tons of our customers do. Try CS and BF1942 in 3D...it is absolutely stunning. You won't go back, I guarantee it:winkwink:

I think CS is fun...but i'm not one of those CS freak who play 20 hours a day....CS must be the game with the most addict...some people really lose their lives on it...and it's been goin on for a couple of years...still as popular as when it came out, if not more

I actually have been running a CS server for years now. I actually agree with the earlier post.

CS is pretty horrible. There are just way too many cheats and Valve, who bought the CS mod, didn't deal with the cheating early enough.

I barely even play on my own server and let others manage for me because I can't deal with the majority of CS players. They really are all 14 year olds. Or at least they act like 14 year olds.

I think Battlefield is a much better suggestion. Also check out Solder of Fortune 2.

CS is still fun...sometimes.

I used to play alot but now I play a match like once a week and thats it. That is how it's still fun :c)


And if you're worried about cheats, just find a good server that has admins playing alot.
