I had an amusing encounter with anti-Obama protesters today
 

I went to the post office and on the sidewalk out front of the post office were half a dozen people holding signs with a picture of Obama with Hitler mustache that called fir his impeachment. As I walked pasted they asked if I would sign their petition to encourage impeachment.

I asked them what they would hope to gain by impeaching Obama. The guy I was talking to said, "We would get our country back."

I then said, "How so?"

"Obama would be gone."

"Correct, but if he is impeached and removed from office everything he has signed into law doesn't automatically get reversed and removed. And, Biden would take over. Do you think he would be much better?" He seemed surprised by this.

"We could beat him in the next election."

"That might be so, but Obama can't run in the next election."

At this point he went off on a Johnnyclips style rant about how Obama was planning to enact military law just before the next election thereby keeping the election from happening and keeping himself in office. I kind of zoned out partially because it was hot and I was thirsty and partly because this is the same shit I have heard for 25 years and never actually happens. Eventually he calms down and I ask him who he thinks would be the perfect person to elect that would help rescue the nation. He had no answer. I told him that if they are planning to throw out the current leader and want to replace him, it might be a good idea to have a replacement person at least in mind.

The conversation went on for a few minutes then I told them I had to leave, wished them luck, suggested they go home and read what a fascist really is and what impeachment really means (they really thought if Obama was gone, Obamacare and everything did magically goes with him) and went inside to mail my stuff.

I am all for free speech and I actually think it was cool that these people were out there protesting and voicing their opinions, but sometimes when you yell loudly you better have good answers when people ask questions or you end up looking kind of dumb.

I remember people talking about how Bush was going to do something just before the election that would allow him to stay in power forever. As we no know, that was clearly not the case.

I don't remember it like that. I do remember it was, "We bail out the banks or the entire financial system of the nation will collapse." But I don't think that had anything to do with the election. This all started happening months before the election.

The FEDS have been threatening martial law in regions and nationally off and on for awhile. They mention it. Never say they are going to actually do it. However, they did just do it successfully in the Boston area.

As for the clowns in front of the PO. Its so much fun to shatter their insipid dreams. They never think beyond the tagline.

It's so surprising how many complete fucking idiots there are like the Obama-Hitler people. We have them in Montreal (Yes, Montreal!) and they are so damn clueless.

At the last one there were 3 people : 2 Older 50 something's, and a 20 something girl who was actually kind of cute.

I asked the girl "Why do you have a Hitler Mustache on President Obama?". She said "Who's hitler?"

Yup.

Then Mom came over and did her little rant about how Obama = Hitler, so I asked her "How many jews did Hitler kill?". It took her a minute to come back with an answer but eventually she said "None", and that "Neither did Hitler".

SOOOOOOOooo then, I walked away. It could have got uglier, but I was in too good a mood to let idiots ruin my day.

In the US impeachment does not necessarily mean removal from office, just being found guilty of a high crime. To date, two presidents (Bill Clinton and Andrew Johnson) have been impeached, and neither were removed from office.

No. We were strongly encouraged to stay indoors and off the roads. People complied for safety, and to make it easier for law enforcement to get the job done. There were 2 murderous nuts running loose, and catching/killing them before they fled was obviously of paramount importance. But martial law was never declared.
