what kind of a site ? You can run a paysite with practically no money at all. Free content is everywhere. Free video feeds, etc. Just slap up a screen cap and a signup link.

How much is a lot?

gothweb 02-24-2003 02:50 PM

The more the merrier. Of course, quality and originality counts a lot more than numbers.

VideoJ 02-24-2003 03:12 PM

Our customers usually start with 10 exclusive shoots and update once a week. So you don't need much.

130 vids :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

131 bro, and remember to get them the cheapest place and preferrably shot by a guy that has never help a cam before :winkwink:

DrewKole 02-24-2003 03:21 PM

Depends on what type of site...

Niche sites can get away with almost anything, and recur... =)

Use feeds as filler for happier customers.

Thanks.

the trick is not what to offer to surfers, but on how and how much to bill them. Put 2-3 cross sales,a ton of upsales, some hidden charges, charge them on the second day of their 3 days trial, spam the shit out of their emails, resell their emails, rape their wife, kill their dog.

Don?t spend too much on the content, a plug-in packages such as our UNIVERSALDREAMPACK would be just fine.
Go to www.XXXtreams.com and get a free demo, onlie...

Jakke PNG 02-25-2003 06:26 AM

Most small paysites seem to have 500-1000 pictures maybe 10 videos and a chatroom. I doubt they make a killing with retention though, but you don't NEED much content to start a paysite... now, starting a successfull paysite might be a different story.

you are exactly right most of the high price paysites are just plugins

That's for a reality video site. Figure how much per shoot? Gregg's partner said bout 3 grand per scene give or take 500 bucks either way. That's 30 grand up front before any revenue comes in - them another 12 grand a month in updates, if you already don't have a program garnering lots of traffic or lots more money to buy traffic you're going into the hole deeper - expensive proposition to make a reality video site your first, better hope webmasters are all over it or you're on your way to losing a chunk of change.

Benefit of an exclusive reality site is that you will get noticed by webmasters looking for new sites to promote when other reality sites hit the wall - if you spend half as much in startup costs and put out a regular type niche site nobody is going to pay attention to you.

30,000 is alot of money in content costs to start up a site - 95%, of sites spend lots less. More like 99% of sites spend less. Plugins aren't paid up front, so at least if u have some traffic, you're going to have some cashflow before the bills start coming in.

If you link 10 TGP galleries together that should be enough.
Be sure to have it hosted on Geocities or Terra.es

One pic.. but it must be a very good one and you MUST combine it with advanced geo-targeting and an intelligent auto-morphing user definable content management template system otherwise you will fail miserably..

:2 cents:

I'd disagree. If you use IP packet multi-level filtering you can get away with simple mid-level geo-targetting rather than advanced. It's a much cheaper way to do it.

Hey,

Yes, I'm a content provider, but I've been a retail site designer and promoter, and I know that fresh content can be a big expense for a newbie webmaster as well as something that webmasters might cut corners on either in bad times, or in really good times...depending on how they are converting.

Fact is, if you provide your customers with high-quality, non-overexposed, content, that encourages retention, you'll do okay. It doesn't matter if that content is leased, exclusive, licensed, or whatever, if it's what they're looking for, and you can provide a consistent flow of the goods, you have a good chance of keeping them happy and coming back (to you) for more.

On thing we encourage is for webmasters to look into monthly plans that allow him to get a lot of content for a low cost, in comparison to snag and buy single purchases, that only allow for sporadic updates. Consistent photos and quality cannot be underestimated.

We have some great monthly plans, from $99, $199, and $399 that can't really be matched, quality/quantity-wise, and I'd put our stuff up against anybody elses.

It's up to each webmaster to determine which approach works best for him, tons of content of all genres, niche content, etc, and stay consistent.

:thumbsup

1000's of paysites on the Net and if u go to all these new review type sites the same sites show up over and over.

Pretty much every top rated site has a big percentage of exclusive niche content.

Now the question is are the guys running and doing the reviews for these sites typical porn surfers? I don't think so ..... these are hardcore porn surfing afficiandos. But as time goes by more and more of these type of surfers exist.

gothweb 02-25-2003 08:07 AM

It depends on the type of site. My sites are niche, and I run them myself, based on my own content. My main sites currently have between 5k and 10k photos each, and retention is nice. My mini-site has 1-2k pics, still needs to grow more. A general site probably wouldn't get away with less than 10k pictures the way I do.
