Manwin & ICM Registry Settlement Deal

Sounds like a reasonable deal.

sounds like a monopoly

donb 05-01-2013 11:47 AM

sounds like there is stilll no reason to buy this. I wonder how much .mobi domains cost now.

Manwin isn't my favorite adult company and I think everyone here knows that by now but I have to admit it's nice to see that they helped do something which is helpful to the common person (at least if you want an .xxx domain) in our industry as well as others. It's good to see a more reasonable price just in case it ever does become mandatory. They just as easily could have made the settlement an agreement to put all their own sites at the top of the .xxx search and to also get special pricing for themselves but this time they did the right thing.

Hats off to Manwin for getting this done for the adult industry.

When icm was appealing to the industry with the help of Alec helmy, one of their points was x amount of dollars would go to Alec's ASCAP or NAACP whatever he runs that helped give "support" from the industry. At this cheap low price icm will have to reneg on a lot of it's promises. I think mike south has the original proposal where helmy got 10 bucks a domain.

Just an FYI. A lot of fools say an enemy of one of your enemies is your friend. That logic will get you into trouble. These settlements are always bs & there is always more to it.

Well pussy.xxx is already registred so no point to bother.

Major (Tom) 05-01-2013 01:14 PM

Personally I'd rather have it the way it was than now having more .xxx domains out there. Now you will see more people having to fight for their trademarks because any fool can buy one now & promote it

No matter the price, I'd still rather not do business with a company that got ICAAN approval through such underhanded tactics.

Next thing you know they will reduce the brand protection from $250 (or whatever it was) to $25.
