Is patriotism worse than religion?
 

Religion creates barriers and divides based on imaginary "gods" that don't exist as well as based on when and where you happened to be born.

Patriotism creates barriers between the slaves based on longitude and latitude as well as based on when and where you happened to be born.

Johnny is a slave to his own insecurity. His insecurity forces him to "enlighten" others as a way to make him feel smart and important.

Kind of funny considering that conspiracy theorists are just filling the same psychological need that religion gives some people. They both need to cope with a random and chaotic world. For some it's god, for others it's the lizard people/illuminati pulling the strings.

Patriotism involves things you can actually see, so you don't need to be a complete lunatic to fall for it, but, it also should be fairly obvious that it is "the last refuge of the scoundrel". Religion causes some people to do some good things every once in a while, but is like bitcoins, solely functioning on belief. And after someone has self-selected as a complete idiot who is ready to die for something that doesn't exist, they'll be used for all sorts of atrocities.

As far as I know Patriotism has caused only about 0000001% of the deaths that Religion has.

Most Patriots are fine. They love their country and want what's right. But like any group I guess you can have extremes, and people who use it to lie and scare people (Glenn Beck, Alex Jones, Rush, Fox News etc). Crazy and fucked up as they are, they haven't killed anyone, yet..
