its from one of those see through cameras. they werent suppose to be, so they pulled them off the market. sony made it i think. some sort of night vision

The Snopes Urban Legend Database has these as "UNKNOWN" with a serious lean toward "fake". I think they're right, there's too much wrong with the photos for them to be real.

Right, I was already there today :) The Snopes people believe they are not actually painted on the skirts, they are photo manipulated. Here's a quote from the page you linked to:

"So alas, the photos aren't of some new fashion."

The biggest and most obvious problem is that all the "painted" asses look correct from whatever angle the photo is taken at. If they were really painted on, they would always look the same no matter what angle you were at and they wouldn't line up so perfectly. If the photos were really carefully staged it might work, but most of those look like candid public shots.

Someone needs to open a paysite for this :)
