Building a Bitcoin Rig?

What would be the most cost effective way to get into the mining process?

Anyone recommend cpu/mb/ram/os and video cards?

Thanks

There is none now unless you have VERY DEEP pockets. Back in the beginning the average Joe could make a decent amount of money mining and with the recent boom that small money could have blown up into something the size of an average American's retirement money. Now the amount of servers needed to mine for large amounts of money is like 100 servers in a farm. High end servers. Not Atom and Celeron bullshit.

Build your own.

Things to keep in mind
  • Get the right motherboard. Google "Asus CROSSHAIR V FORMULA-Z". It takes three graphics cards
  • Cooling. With two or three GPU's, you need a large cabinet, because all the hot air is easier moved in a cabinet with high volume, unless you want really noisy and fast spinning coolers.
  • Power. The rig will be needing a LOT of Juice. I used the Antec HCP-1200
  • Only use ATI/AMD cards
  • Linux works, but Windows is easy :)

Those looks like the HP/Compaq D530 convertible Tower. They had a Intel P4 in most models. Good luck mining with that :1orglaugh

They have 35 similar used models for sale here w..w...w.ebay.co.uk/itm/35x-HP-Compaq-Convertible-Mini-Towers-Intel-Pentium-4-DC7100-DC7600-D530-/150980006923

Uhm. Do your research. The advent of ASICs is going to change the landscape.
