I think the new Mustangs look dumb. The new Carmaos look dumb too.

I don't drive sports cars any more so... Haven't for some time.

I can't do sports cars any more. I've just lost complete interest. Big deal, you can go fast. But there is always someone who can go faster. After twenty years and lots of speeding tickets... It's just not worth it now.

I'm going to the lake Sunday. I'm going places where sports cars just can't go.

I'm hoping my new jeep does just as well...

Is this where you're living these days?

For me it's simply about being able to out-accelerate, out-brake, out-corner and simply out-drive 999 / 1000 cars on the road. It's purely about safety and efficiency. It's about being able to get away from stupid people creating stupid situations.

Driving my old Civic basically meant just having to go with the flow, and hoping something didn't happen to me that would require extreme handling abilities. That car just couldn't handle what I wanted to dish. I was going through brakes like crazy. With the brakes I have now (14" rotors on all 4 corners)... my eyeballs will pop out of my head well before I warp my rotors. :1orglaugh

The guy who can go faster than me... I am not worried about. That's the guy who (probably) knows what he's doing.

Wow, what is funny about reading this all I can think is.. "This is the person I want to avoid on the road." I guarantee everyone else on the road thinks this way as well, besides you.

Think what you want. So I drive a high performance car to be safe. Why do you think most people buy them? What do you think they are to be used for?

I live at the very edge of the suburbs. It's nice really. In one direction we have the mall and in the other direction we have... Lots of nothing.

How old are you?

Do you really need to out-accelerate, out-brake, out-corner and out-drive me.... While we are both doing 70 mph on our way to the local mall? Is your sports car going to be any different on the freeway? Sure - your ride will be louder, and less comfortable, and maybe you'll get there a full minute before me while burning three times as much gas.

If you feel the need to "out drive" everyone on a daily basis, you are just driving like an asshole. Plain and simple.

And keep in mind that statement comes from someone who has half a dozen speeding tickets at over 100 mph.

not interest in other people or going fast, just enjoy blasting the canyons in the am. drinking coffee from a thermos on top of the mountain when the sun comes up... the only way I have found to really unwind. when I was a kid it was motorcycles and weed ... now it's vettes and coffee

bmw's are usually the drivers doing creepy shit on the road for sure... 99% you'll see vettes coasting in traffic... BUT if you pull lame shit I can get out of the way :2 cents:

For fun and adrenaline. Almost nobody buys high performance cars in order to be safer. That might be 5th or 8th reason in their list.

believe me ... performance has saved my bacon a few times... being cut off or accelerating out of situations or even snap turns and great brakes.. it all adds up to avoidance of bad situations...
