Anyone have a decent C & D letter?
I'm looking for a C & D letter to issue to websites in violation of copyright infringments and was wondering if anyone was willing to share one with me or know where i could possibly buy one online.
Thanks, Joe |
Try your lawyer.

I find lawyers usually have pretty good ones...:winkwink:

Invest in a lawyer and have them send out an authentic C & D letter to the infringing parties certified mail. Reason being, you'll get a much higher success rate of enforcing the copyright, and won't have to put up with newbies who challenge you because you sent them a C&D via email. :2 cents:

the above is for creditors but maybe you can tweak it |

Joe,
If this happens to be about the screen caps of your content that we're using on the Ultra MPEGs tour due to a previously arranged agreement, there's no sense in sending a C&D, as a simple request to remove images will suffice. With that said, the tour is being redesigned as we speak, hopefully the new tour will be up tomorrow. - Sly |

IF the violator is in the USA or uses USA-based e-commerce it is very easy to get your content removed.
these days all USA based hosts and e-commerce vendors fall under the DMCA and can be cited as "contributory infringers" under the no electronic theft act signed into law by Pres Clinton. they are the deep pockets that carry the big stick in getting your stuff removed. before they will do that they will make the violators' website go dark. when you contact the violator include in you C & D the link to the host's "agent for copyright" info. explain to the violator that you will be contacting his e-commerce vendor and host within 48 hours if your content is not removed. if the offender is outside the usa, it is a little more difficult---but most hosts and e-commerce companies even outside the USA will cooperate. |
