Actually, it looks like they are, but they are not the only ones taking this seriously.

of course the USA wants to fight north Korea, they are pulling out of the middle east, they need somewhere to keep the military companies in production

There's always one kid on every block, one person in every workplace, one player on every team, who is the worst asshole of the bunch. On the world stage N Korea has been that guy since the early 50's.

Sometimes it's better to just kick that guy's ass but in this case sure if they think they can figure out a way to 'de-escalate' or otherwise appease this asshole nation by all means have at it.

The answer is almost always "absolutely nothing substantial".

Bill Clinton should have bombed them and toppled the regime when they were drawing up attack plans in the 90's. Now, you have to worry about them launching a nuke or an artillery barrage into Seoul. Congrats.

There's not been a better time for the US to take on NK since the conflict ended in '53. NK has almost always had a larger army than SK & if it weren't for the US Army, SK would have been overun long ago.

The only allies of NK (China - Russia) are getting fed up with the antics of the new ruler. NK is using it's only trump card (nuclear ballistic missile) to hold off certain demise of the state due to it's isolation from the rest of the world.

Recent DDOF reports say NK has nuclear weapons, although unreliable. The leader of NK appears to be insane, but have to know that if they launch a nuclear strike at any country... they would cease to exists.

Checkmate for US.

PS - Hope leader of NK is sane.
