Spain are for sure not Latinos.
Only people from Latin America are Latinos.

if you want to get technical about it, depending on whose definition you use.

Quote:

The term latino (feminine latina) in the Romance languages, such as Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish, literally translates as "Latin". The cognate French term is Latin, not Latino. Portuguese dictionaries define the demonym latino to refer to natives of Romance-speaking nations influenced by Roman civilization, and to the natives or inhabitants of ancient Latium
which would include a lot of southern European countries from Portugal to Romania. as some "latinos" under the western definition speak Portuguese, i wonder how that breaks down for them?

Where do you think all those south & central American regions were orginally colonized from?

Spain
Portugal

They're all from the Hispanic race. "latino" is mainly an American (USA) term used to describe people of, well let's let wiki explain it....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latino_(demonym)

-- The United States Census uses the ethnonym Hispanic or Latino to refer to "a person of Cuban, Mexican, Puerto Rican, South or Central American, or other Spanish culture or origin regardless of race."

He wasn't wrong exactly, just not perfectly 100% technically accurate.

Rochard 05-10-2013 01:30 PM

Hispanic children are "so well behaved"? Not in my hometown. The biggest problem my hometown has is young Hispanic kids in Hispanic gangs...

the word "latino" comes from the region of LATIUM (Lazio) in Italy. The fact that people in USA uses the word in a wrong way doesn't mean it's correct, just that they don't have a clue about history, ethnography, geography and whatever you want to add. Just FYI, the only real, original "latinos" were Romans from Lazio. They also spoke a language named LATIN (go figure).

Thus, it's more accurate to say Madonna is latina than saying Jennifer Lopez is.

And believe me, I don't think of Ancient Rome when I see what you may call a "latino" nowadays! By Jupiter's cock!

So if you meant by this technical definition why didnt you named Portugal and Italy in your list ?

I think you were going actually by my definition as Latin person that i am and Im sure Spain is not in that list.
Culturally and in every way Spain is Europe same as Italians and Portugal.

For the other comment Hispanic are all spanish speakers.
