How to dump $850,000 in a couple of seconds...

Just take a corner a little too fast with your customers car...

spiederman 03-28-2013 05:02 PM

_Richard_ 03-28-2013 05:04 PM

L-Pink 03-28-2013 05:05 PM

How do you even start to say I'm sorry …..

fitzmulti 03-28-2013 05:07 PM

douche......

MaDalton 03-28-2013 05:11 PM

in case anyone wants to read the story behind it in german:
http://www.spiegel.de/auto/aktuell/u...-a-891281.html

basically a mechanic took a clients car for a test ride in the rain...

oof...brutal.

Rochard 03-28-2013 05:14 PM

The other day I was at a stop light, it had just rained... And I watched a pick up truck very slowly take a turn and start sliding... And it kept on sliding right into a line of parked cars.

Not much you can do some times.

MaDalton 03-28-2013 05:16 PM

no one got hurt though... thats what you call german engineering ;)

dillonaire 03-28-2013 05:19 PM

Should be able to buff most of that out.

jmk 03-28-2013 05:22 PM

I think you can buff that out

dyna mo 03-28-2013 05:24 PM

dang.

i always figured dudes and cars like that had their own certain mechanic.. the article reads like the driver was 26 yearsold and hotrodding around the corner, doesn't sound like the regular wrench for a car like that.

rowan 03-28-2013 05:29 PM

I bet this happens all the time. You only hear about the 1% that get caught because they crash it.

MaDalton 03-28-2013 05:32 PM

in Germany you probably can't even fire the dude, he has to do that at least twice

seeandsee 03-28-2013 05:40 PM

imagine now what will be

HushMoney 03-28-2013 05:44 PM

a hammer and plunger, it'll look like new in no time.

There are some pretty well known stories down your way about mechanics / apprentices destroying 200sx's / gtr's etc in the same way.

A mate had an SS ute with a little extra beef and when he got it back from a Holden dealer there were nice scratches on his rims and his from spoiler crushed.

ottopottomouse 03-28-2013 08:54 PM

seen far worse get repaired like new. it's valuable enough to fix.

Spunky 03-28-2013 10:09 PM

I guess he won't get a tip

lonerunner 03-28-2013 11:14 PM

people most of time think that they can drive like in movies, but they never watched live and real driving. In wet, hard conditions and big turns even professional drivers sometimes slow down just to 30 km/h to not make a crash like this.

Get off of the brakes when that happens and you'll usually be fine

If that guy worked regularly on classic cars he should know better but the car has 215 hp, rear wheel drive and no abs, esp or anything....

And i know perfectly well how things like that happen, i did almost the same with my Porsche once, i just didnt crash as hard as he did :1orglaugh

Captain Kawaii 03-29-2013 02:23 AM

News reported "high rate of speed" on the police report. Insurance? Oops.

I think anyone who has ever driven a car at 90% in less than ideal conditions knows how easily shit like this happens.

I was sitting next to another BMW 335 on a rainy night a few months ago and was driving with traction control and stability control off, and these cars BTW have open-diff... I accelerated hard away from him and within a fraction of a second the car was completely sideways and I looked like an idiot.

But there was literally no way to steer into it, to keep it going in one direction. It was like the moment I put my foot into it, it was sideways. Caught me off guard.

Not the first time it's happened either. I have my suspicions that these open-diff cars are nearly impossible to control in a situation like that.

Jman 03-29-2013 10:16 AM

Ouch this is a very sad pic

dyna mo 03-29-2013 10:22 AM

he was going fast enough to flip the car, i would think he would have been familiar enough with the roads around the shop where they *test drive* to have known he was so way far over the max.

CurrentlySober 03-29-2013 10:27 AM

While I admit to enjoying a 'Good Dump...'

I cant afford a couple of seconds... :(

Kenny B! 03-29-2013 10:27 AM

It's not like you can just stroll into the dealer and order another

Probably a diesel truck, all that torque you can break the tires loose so easily on those things.

Bman 03-29-2013 10:50 AM

my dad's a tv repairman i can fix it

Tom_PM 03-29-2013 10:53 AM

I lent my moped to a kid once and he brought it back with the tailpipe all bent. Later learned he was jumping it off the curb. True story.

Mike Honcho 03-29-2013 10:58 AM

Unless there is significant frame damage, the car will be repaired and the owner will pay $0 out of pocket.

A friend of mine was getting a turbo put into his Corvette and when they were test driving it (standard protocol), someone rear ended them hard enough to cause them to hit the car in front. They ended up doing all the repair work and the owner felt so bad, he gave my friend the turbo charger for free, labor included.

i'm pretty sure they will fix it. the 300 SL has a tube frame and i have seen some in a way worse condition than that one

dyna mo 03-29-2013 11:04 AM

i wonder who will be doing the test drive after that repair!
